East China Electric Power Design Institute Embarks on Engineering Enterprise Integration Pilot Project with Intergraph Process, Power & Marine

The East China Electric Power Design Institute (ECEPDI), in alliance with the Process, Power & Marine division of Intergraph Corporation, is developing a comprehensive, standardized enterprise integration environment for electric generating plant engineering design. The feasibility project under way aims to create the standard system for electric power generation facility engineering and design throughout China. The solution includes SmartPlant® 3D, INtools® and SmartPlant P&ID. The engineering tools are integrated through the SmartPlant Foundation workflow and information management software, supported by The Engineering Framework. The ECEPDI initiative supports China's efforts to increase generating capacity to meet the needs of economic development.

The integrated enterprise platform supports engineering and design of a standard 600-megawatt power plant, including piping, structural, electrical and instrumentation and control components comprising more than 60 major equipment units and 400 pipeline models. Based on SmartPlant Foundation, the solution is pre-populated with integration protocols, defined workflows, standard reference data and equipment catalogs. ECEPDI plans to later integrate Intergraph MARIAN® for materials and supply chain management and SmartPlant Electrical for electrical engineering.

SmartPlant 3D ( http://ppm.intergraph.com/smartplant/sp_3d.asp ) is for data-centric, multi-discipline concurrent engineering and modeling, while SmartPlant P&ID provides piping and instrumentation diagram creation ( http://ppm.intergraph.com/smartplant/sp_pid.asp ). INtools enables lifecycle instrumentation engineering, design and operational documentation ( http://ppm.intergraph.com/intools ).

Vice President Zheng Shaoyin, ECEPDI, said, "ECEPDI recognizes this is more of an integration, information and workflow management challenge than an engineering tool problem. East China Electric Power Design Institute (ECEPDI, http://www.ecepdi.com/ ) is a regional planning, surveying and engineering institute.
