MatrixOne to Speed PLM Implementation, Adoption and ROI Through New Integration With Microsoft Office

MatrixOne, Inc. announced an integration between its MatrixOne PLM environment and Microsoft® OfficeT. The integration will enable a more rapid adoption and intuitive usage of MatrixOne PLM solutions in Microsoft-centric organizations by allowing product development teams to create, retrieve, edit and share MatrixOne-based product content while engaged in familiar Microsoft programs including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook. With this seamless integration, users will be able to incorporate MatrixOne PLM functions into their Microsoft applications without disrupting established productivity.

"Our goal is to make implementation of MatrixOne PLM as easy as possible, and to make the PLM workflow mirror users' current habits, so they can easily and naturally begin to use MatrixOne to collaborate with product managers, designers and partners," said Jon Gable, vice president of product management for MatrixOne. "There is no technology more ingrained into the day-to-day lives of our customers than Microsoft Office, so by providing a native integration to the Microsoft Office suite of tools, our customers will rapidly recognize the benefits and ROI of implementing MatrixOne while minimizing end-user training."

The MatrixOne Microsoft Office integration will deliver improvements in efficiency and productivity to users by allowing them to:

•  Access MatrixOne PLM directly through their Microsoft Office environment, providing users with the ability to manage product content through a familiar desktop tool-and simplifying the adoption of MatrixOne.
•  Apply enterprise-level data sharing and security without disrupting established end-user work procedures.
•  Enable enterprise document management by having the ability to save, browse and navigate product content organized in Projects, Workspaces, Libraries, Collections and other object types directly from the Microsoft Office suite of tools.
•  Securely distribute product content. By using the Matrix PLM platform and MatrixOne applications to control access to product content, individuals will have visibility and editing privileges for only the proper information at the appropriate time in the development process.
•  Promote company standards with document templates. Organizations can save and access enterprise Microsoft OfficeT templates in the MatrixOne PLM Platform in order to create new content based on company standards.
•  Transfer knowledge and re-use via attribute synchronization. Individuals can bi-directionally synchronize file attributes with the data storage in MatrixOne to facilitate knowledge transfer and re-use. Examples include properties such as title, comments and subject, but additional attributes can be configured as needed.
•  Record key product lifecycle management decisions by saving e-mail threads as MatrixOne-managed data for future reference.
