New SmartPlant Expert Solution from Intergraph Process, Power & Marine Automates Project Completions
The Process, Power & Marine division of Intergraph Corporation announced a new SmartPlant® Expert Project Completions System template. When used as part of information handover planning, the PCS template enables commissioning engineers to automate management of project completions and helps accelerate plant commissioning and time to startup. The package identifies the completions scope, reflects commissioning priorities, manages the completions punch list and engineering changes. It manages handover between project phases, such as construction to commissioning and provides early visibility of incomplete items. The PCS template is built on SmartPlant Foundation ( http://ppm.intergraph.com/infomgmt ), the integration, workflow, change and information management hub for the Process, Power & Marine enterprise engineering platform.
The PCS template replaces the time-consuming and error-prone traditional method of managing project completions. Checklist management accelerates test and commissioning package creation while change management ensures that project engineering data is always current. A central tag-based punch list reduces errors and eliminates duplication. Pre-defined workflows manage required tasks to help optimize concurrent completions, pre-commissioning and commissioning work processes. The solution comprises a single, data-centric system which supports engineering, detail design and construction as well as operations, maintenance and modification.
Intergraph announced the new SmartPlant Expert PCS template at the APEX Summit conference, where Linderick Whitworth, information management team leader, Buzzard Development Project, EnCana (U.K.) Ltd. and Mike Moroney, business systems manager, Buzzard Development Project, CB&I John Brown Ltd., discuss information handover including benefits of EnCana's project completions system. The session is scheduled at 2:15 p. m. today. EnCana (U.K.) Ltd. is operator for the US$2 billion Buzzard North Sea project and CB&I John Brown Ltd. is the engineering contractor for detail design.
Checklist Package Joins SmartPlant Expert Portfolio
The new PCS package joins the SmartPlant Expert ( http://www.smartplant.com/expert ) portfolio of Best Practice Templates which include those for information handover, line list and combustion turbine fleet management. The solutions address a specific business problem and use an approach drawn from considerable experience derived from successful projects. Delivered globally by Intergraph Process, Power & Marine, all packages feature a return on investment (ROI) target, finite budget and a defined implementation period. The templates feature a mix of technical and business consulting, implementation, configuration, training and support services along with SmartPlant Foundation software.
SmartPlant Foundation manages the availability, integrity and accuracy of engineering information. It builds an electronic library about a plant and its configuration, including structure, tags, assets and documents. It encompasses a plant's initial design and ongoing operating upgrades and modifications, defining and driving electronic work processes, tracking changes and managing engineering revisions.
