Intergraph Process, Power & Marine Supplies Materials Management and Intelligent Piping and Instrumentation Software to Costain Oil, Gas & Process Limited
The Process, Power & Marine division of Intergraph Corporation announced that Costain Oil, Gas & Process Limited has signed software and services contracts for the MARIAN® materials, procurement and supply chain management system and the SmartPlant® P&ID intelligent piping and instrumentation engineering design software. Costain Oil, Gas & Process Limited is housing the software on a UK-based server with remote access from other offices to enable global materials management and logical design for piping and instrumentation. A South Manchester, UK-based international firm, Costain Oil, Gas & Process Limited is well known for front-end process design expertise and engineering application of third-party as well as its own licensed processing technologies.
Mike Robinson, commercial director, Costain Oil, Gas & Process Limited, said, "We have been INtools users for many years and are now expanding the range of Intergraph products through MARIAN and SmartPlant P&ID. Costain considered competing materials management systems that met basic needs, but Intergraph offered the best integrated solution to allow us to deliver projects meeting client expectations and requirements. We are rolling out MARIAN for all global projects. There are major benefits in Intergraph technology and it is part of our strategy for the next 10 to 15 years."
Mike Healy, head of engineering, Costain Oil, Gas & Process Limited, said, "The trials on SmartPlant P&ID have been successful, not only in the production of P&IDs, schedules and transfer to other applications, such as Intergraph INtools, but has been warmly received by the engineers. Costain Oil, Gas & Process Limited first used SmartPlant P&ID on a front-end engineering and design project. We are now using it on an engineering, procurement and construction project being engineered in multiple locations."
