UGS Showcases Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) Excellence in Asia Pacific
UGS presented an overview of its business development in Asia Pacific, the world's fastest growing region for the adoption of PLM. At the event, UGS highlighted its latest digital product development software, NXT 3, and showcased several examples of how PLM is transforming the business process in Asia Pacific.
Deployment of NX 3 will enable manufacturers to transform traditionally engineering-centric computer-aided-design (CAD) and product data management (PDM) implementations into enterprise-wide PLM strategies.
The managed development environment for NX, powered by the de facto standard, Teamcenter, provides a scalable solution - from simple vaulting to engineering process management, continuous digital validation, multi-site integration, requirements management and manufacturing planning. Customers can implement these solutions in stages, with each solution delivering incremental return on investment.
By focusing on delivering the value associated with some of today's key business process initiatives, such as "Lean Design" and "Design for Six Sigma" (DFSS), NX 3 helps reduce waste across all the disciplines of product development. NX 3 enables users to avoid the inefficient creativity of non-repeatable processes and use automated design processes that maximize engineering and part re-use. NX 3 also delivers major improvements in design productivity that directly impact process efficiency and ultimately reduces wasted effort during the product lifecycle.
During the event attended by media representatives from China, Hong Kong, India, Japan and Taiwan, Yang Guotao, CIO of Beiqi Foton Motor (Foton) in China, shared his company's experience of using PLM to increase efficiency and responsiveness to ever-increasing market demands. Foton, a manufacturer of vehicles ranging from light buses and SUVs to large coaches, recently was awarded UGS' first annual Asia Pacific PLM Excellence Award. See the announcement of the award at http://www.ugs.com/about_us/press/press.shtml?id=3725
According to Foton, its PLM strategy is fundamental to the business goal of meeting the diverse needs of its clients. Its strategy brings together people, processes and technology, and has led to tangible benefits for Foton including a 50 percent increase in its efficiency in implementing engineering changes.
During the day, Tony Affuso, chairman, CEO and president; Chuck Grindstaff, executive vice president of products; Hans-Kurt Lübberstedt, executive vice president of Asia Pacific; and Dave Primrose; vice president of Product Marketing, delivered a series of presentations on the development of the PLM market and UGS' offerings to companies in Asia.
"We are proud of our achievement in PLM in this region and have demonstrated our capabilities by having many business wins in each country in the region," said Lübberstedt. "During the process, we have achieved a win-win situation with our customers and UGS will continue to be the market leader in the region."
