UGS announced that Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) Construction Equipment Division has selected UGS' NX and Teamcenter software and services as the standard for global product development throughout the division and its entire supply chain.

Today's announcement marks the third HHI division contract with UGS this year. The first was with HHI Electro Electric Systems Division on July 14, 2004, (See the announcement at www.ugs.com/about_us/press/press.shtml?id=3746 ) and the second one was with HHI Engine & Machinery Division.

The agreement, terms of which were not disclosed, creates a framework to deploy 100 seats of NX and 250 seats of Teamcenter software solutions for HHI's complete line of construction equipment. In addition, HHI expects approximately 1,000 suppliers to collaborate with HHI using the same PLM systems.

"UGS has proven its superiority in products and quality of services by helping us achieve our business goal of retaining a leadership position in the global heavy industry market," said, Hong Seon Lee, director of Construction Equipment Design Division, HHI. "We have confidently selected UGS to be our premier PLM product and service provider for our extended global team. With UGS' solutions and services, we continue to ensure our world-class product quality, stable growth, technical innovation and, most importantly, customer satisfaction for our products."

"We are pleased that Hyundai Heavy Industries' Construction Equipment Division selected UGS' software and services over those of our competitors," said Hans-Kurt Lübberstedt, executive vice president, Asia Pacific, UGS. "The third UGS contract with Hyundai Heavy Industries this year serves as a proof point to the increasing interest and recognition of the value of PLM in Asia Pacific and particularly in Korea."
