Spescom Partners With MRO Software to Address the Energy and Utility Markets in the US and Europe

Spescom Software Inc announced that it has entered into a marketing alliance with MRO Software, a global provider of Strategic Asset Management solutions.

In terms of this alliance, Spescom Software and MRO Software will undertake joint marketing activities as well as recommend a joint solution that combines both companies' products and services into a complete solution for its customers and prospects.

MRO Software is a global company based in Bedford, Mass., with approximately 900 employees, 10,000 customers and more than 260,000 end-users. It's flagship asset management solution, MAXIMO®, optimizes performance, improves productivity and service levels and enables asset-related sourcing and procurement across the entire spectrum of strategic assets. MAXIMO allows customers to manage the complete lifecycle of their strategic assets including: planning, procurement, deployment, tracking, maintenance and retirement.

"The combined eB/MAXIMO solution extends the asset management capabilities of MAXIMO by enabling the management of asset configuration and all associated documents and drawings throughout the life cycle of the assets," said Johan Arts, vice president of industry marketing, MRO Software. "It also provides a 'best-in-class' change and configuration management process that enables the impact of any proposed change to be assessed as well as ensuring that all approved document changes are fully implemented. This ensures conformance between the design basis of a plant, the physical configuration of the plant and all documents and drawings that relate to the plant."

In terms of the agreement, the initial focus will be on customers in the energy and utility markets with a major emphasis on the nuclear sector. The nuclear sector in particular has embraced the need for effective configuration and change management as evidenced by new standards such as the ANSI/NIRMA CM1.0-2000 "Guidelines for the Configuration Management of Nuclear Facilities," the Standard Nuclear Performance Model (SNPM) standard AP-929 and the new DOE-STD-1073-2003 "DOE Standard Configuration Management."

"We are very excited about the alliance with MRO Software," said Carl Mostert, Spescom Software's CEO. "We target the same markets and have many common customers. Many plant owners and operators have suffered in the past from the lack of accurate information about their plant, and we plan to deliver an approach that provides a strong return on investment. By working together with MRO, we can offer them an integrated solution that fully addresses their asset and information management needs. Driving down operational costs while ensuring regulatory compliance is one of the key objectives of the alliance."
