UGS Names Jim Milton to Lead Global Sales and Alliance Efforts
UGS announced Jim Milton will join the company as executive vice president, Global Sales Operations, effective October 1.
In this newly-created position, Milton is responsible for UGS' sales and alliance efforts on a global basis, working in partnership with the company's zone and automotive sales leaders to aggressively target geographic, industry and strategic corporate opportunities. He will report to Tony Affuso, UGS chairman, CEO and president.
Milton has held various executive-level sales positions throughout his 20+ year career in the IT industry. Prior to joining UGS, Milton served as Hewlett-Packard's (HP) Customer Solutions Group Senior Vice President and Managing Director for the Americas. In this position, he was responsible for more than $20 billion in sales of HP products and services into global commercial, enterprise, small business and public sector accounts in the United States, Canada and Latin/South America.
A native of Canada, he attended and graduated from the University of Waterloo and worked, while a co-op student, as a systems engineer for IBM. Milton began his professional sales career at Digital Equipment Corporation (DEC), where he moved into increasingly senior-level sales and marketing roles, ultimately serving as one of the company's youngest-ever vice presidents. Milton next joined Compaq in 1998 with the acquisition of DEC. Within one year, he was the leader for all U.S. enterprise sales for the company, and in 2000 became the Senior Vice President and General Manager for all of North America. When HP acquired Compaq in 2002, Milton moved to HP, where he was promoted to his most recent role.
