Solid Edge® Version 16 Enhances Mold Tooling Application
UGS announced Version 16 of Solid Edge® will be delivered with expanded Mold Tooling capabilities.
In February, Solid Edge introduced its new Mold Tooling application for plastic mold suppliers that service the consumer products and other plastics-dependent industries. The enhanced Mold Tooling application announced today adds significantly to existing capabilities by automating the design of additional features such as runner bars, slides, lifters, inserts, stripper plates and water channels, beyond existing Core/Cavity creation, ejector pins, runners and gate capabilities.
In addition, Solid Edge Mold Tooling now comes with standard component libraries for Strack and Rabourdin to complement an existing array of libraries for DME, Hasco, Futuba, LKM and Misumi, as well as a new capability to define custom mold bases of any size or shape.
Together these enhancements now allow the support of a variety of multi-core, multi-cavity plastic injection molds of unlimited size, including complex 3-plate and stripper-plate molds, in a variety of international standards.
"The enhancements to Solid Edge's Mold Tooling application will significantly increase our time-saving potential," said David Boyle, president of Mold Engineering Inc. in Indianapolis, Indiana, who has begun working with the Solid Edge Mold Application. "Specifically, the ability to create custom plates-based off existing standards-with no limit to size will allow us to be competitive for a wide range of projects in both size and scope."
The complete Solid Edge Mold Design Solution (including Solid Edge Classic, feature recognizer and Mold Tooling) is available at a special introductory price (available through December 31, 2004) of $9,995 US List, affording mold companies of any size the opportunity to Design with Insight.
