Michael Graves Design Group to Speak at think3's 3rd Annual IDSA National Conference Luncheon

think3, Inc. will host its third annual luncheon during the Industrial Design Society of America (IDSA) National Conference Thursday, October 28, 2004, with Michael Graves Design Group (MGDG), one of the world's most highly-acclaimed design firms, as the keynote presenter.

Donald Strum, Senior Director of product design for MGDG, will speak about the design firm's relationship with retail giant Target and other clients for speed-to-market in the product development cycle, and think3's supporting technology role in helping them achieve this goal.

When Target challenged the leadership of MGDG with the words "Speed is Life" six years ago, the design firm recognized that product design as they knew it was about to change. The challenge was set for MGDG to design more beautiful, cost-effective and high-quality products faster.

Attendees will hear about how after more than 800 products created for Target and other well-known clients, speed-to-market continues to be paramount. Drawing on his 21 years of experience with MGDG, Strum will outline how the firm's partnership with Target and other companies have led to what many have hailed as "the democratization of design."

"think3's technology is beginning to play a critical role in helping us achieve shorter design cycles while preserving design integrity throughout the process," said Strum. "This is why we decided to make think3 our standardized technology partner, supporting our product design division."

MGDG now uses thinkdesign® as well as many of think3's services and technologies to design products from 2D sketches to finished parts, commonly referred to in industrial design as "art to part."

"think3 is proud to be a part of the IDSA conference again this year with the involvement of Michael Graves Design Group," said Dan Meyer, Vice President of Worldwide Marketing for think3. "IDSA's vision of advancing the quality and positive impact of design goes hand in hand with what we are working to achieve."

The IDSA conference consists of various presentations and seminars conducted by professionals in the design field and centers around the conference theme "Utopian Realities." IDSA has more than 3,300 members and 28 chapters in the United States and is the voice of the industrial design profession, advancing the quality and positive impact of design.
