Dassault Systèmes Launches Product Lifecycle Management Certification Initiative in South Korea

Dassault Systèmes announced the PLM SPARK program, an initiative that measures and promotes PLM skills in Korean companies and academic institutions.

SPARK (Skills Promotion and Recognition for Korea) provides students and professionals with recognition of their skills in using Dassault Systèmes' PLM solutions and has two main elements:

•  an agreement through which the Korean Society of CAD/CAM Engineers (SCCE) terminates its CATIA skills certification and endorses Dassault Systèmes' Certified Professional program. Dassault Systèmes will grant SCCE certificate holders with an equivalent qualification recognized worldwide

•  the opening of an Academic testing center at Hanyang University that will operate the Dassault Systèmes certification program with affordable terms and conditions for students.

Dassault Systèmes' CATIA Certified Professional Program provides customers and users with a globally valuable index for measuring and promoting their CATIA knowledge. Certification exams can be taken in more than 3,500 testing centers and are available in English, Japanese, French, and German, and now in Korean.

In support of the PLM SPARK launch, Certified Professional tests will be available in South Korea at reduced prices for a limited time.

"We are observing, together with increased adoption of Dassault Systèmes technology, the rapid formation of a vast community of PLM experts worldwide," said Philippe Forestier, executive vice-president, alliances, marketing, and communications, Dassault Systèmes. "The PLM SPARK program will expand this community in South Korea."

To promote its academic standing, Hanyang developed an ambitious plan in commemoration of the 60th anniversary of the University, which is to gain recognition as one of the top 100 universities in the world by the year 2039. Visit http://www.hanyang.ac.kr/hy2010/eindex.html for details.

Society of CAD/CAM Engineers, founded in May 1995, is a professional association in Korea, which studies design as well manufacturing. The association is a group that brings competent people together to exchange information. The association was founded to gather CAD/CAM technology capability in Korea, which previously existed in scattered entities. The association holds an academic convention every February, holds an annual workshop focusing on presentations by various companies.

We publish an academic book three times a year and four essays a year, and we are in the process of publishing an English journal ( http://www.ijcc.org/ ). The association also holds theory research meetings two times a year and to discuss research new topics. These meetings are handled by STEP research, PDM research, and the CAE research center, and technical classes are opened two times a year to offer a chance for association members to learn new technology. The Association performs various activities such as CAD/CAM software contests, part-modeling contests, and educational material development. Many managers from industry sites attend these activities to address industrial-educational cooperation. Visit http://www.cadcam.or.kr/ for more information.
