Dassault Systemes Teams with Volvo IT to Deploy ENOVIA V5 at Volvo Penta

Dassault Systemes announced the signing of a services contract with Volvo IT to deploy the ENOVIA V5 Product Lifecycle Management solution at Volvo Penta, a world-leading and global manufacturer of engines and complete power systems for both marine and industrial applications.

Dassault Systemes will provide Volvo IT with technical consulting services and industry process expertise for the PLM deployment at Volvo Penta. As the primary system integrator, Volvo IT will lead the deployment of ENOVIA V5 involving up to 400 concurrent users.

In early 2003, Volvo Penta went into production with ENOVIA V5. The company completed an initial global implementation for 200 users shared between its facilities in Sweden and the USA. In this first deployment, Volvo Penta replaced an in-house product data management (PDM) system with ENOVIA V5. The new phase will double the number of concurrent ENOVIA V5 users to 400 by March 2005.

"This phase will introduce new functionality that will enable Volvo Penta to improve business efficiency and replace several in-house systems," said Anders Romare, director of the Volvo IT PLM Solution Center. "It will also further strengthen the partnership between Volvo IT and Dassault Systemes as Volvo IT grows its PLM business operations in the Nordic region.",

"Our advanced expertise in building, customizing, and validating a complete PLM solution will be critical to the successful completion of this new project," said Didier Gaillard, global account manager for AB Volvo, Dassault Systemes. "Together with Volvo IT, we will continue Volvo Penta's PLM business transformation."

Volvo IT is a wholly-owned subsidiary of AB Volvo and supplies IT solutions and services to both the automotive industry and other sectors. Volvo IT provides IT solutions and services for the whole industrial process, from product development and manufacturing to sales, the aftermarket and administration, including IT operations and infrastructure. Customers include AB Volvo, Ford-owned Volvo Car Corporation, and other global industrial companies. Volvo IT's global activities achieved sales of around SEK 5.8 billion in 2003, and the company employed about 4,700 people in Europe, North America, South America and Asia.
