SMARTEAM Use Grows Among Largest Israeli Manufacturers, Including Electronics Sector

SmarTeam Corporation Ltd., a Dassault Systemes company reported a dramatic increase in SMARTEAM use by Israeli manufacturers in the first half of 2004. More than 70 Israeli companies, including the country's largest manufacturers in electronics, industrial products, pharmaceuticals, shipbuilding and more, are increasingly relying on SMARTEAM to meet their collaboration and process optimization needs, spurring innovation and profitability.

Key Israeli industry leaders using SMARTEAM include Comverse Network Systems, Israel Military Industries, Dead Sea Bromine Group, Israel Shipyards and El-Op Electro-optics Industries Ltd. In 2004 to date, SMARTEAM adoption has increased substantially among large and mid-sized Israeli manufacturers, particularly in the electronics sectors.

At the recent annual IBM PLM User Conference in Israel, SmarTeam CEO, Avinoam Nowogrodski, noted that, "As elsewhere, SmarTeam is committed to helping Israeli companies of all sizes thrive in the competitive global economy by improving their ability to leverage product data to deliver innovative, quality products. The Israeli manufacturing community is increasingly recognizing SMARTEAM's unique value in providing rapidly implemented, scalable solutions that optimize processes across the product lifecycle."

Ceragon Networks, a high-capacity wireless solutions provider, relies heavily on suppliers. "Using SMARTEAM enables our outsourced contractors to participate early-on in the development process, helping our designers better understand the downstream impact of each design change on manufacturability, unit costs and more," said Shabtai Harel, Ceragon's Director of Engineering. "SMARTEAM allows us to apply the knowledge gained through experience to continually improve our product development process."

Jointly owned by Israel defense industry leaders Elbit Systems and Rafael, Semi Conductor Devices (SCD) implemented its SMARTEAM solution in just four months. A world innovator in advanced infrared-based night vision systems, SCD is using SMARTEAM to integrate product data across multi-CAD, Microsoft Office, and ERP software applications. "Due to our security classification, we need unequivocal control over our products, from design through manufacturing," said Alberto Burger, VP Quality, SCD. "SMARTEAM provides access to accurate product data for project management, quality control, purchasing, and even on the shop floor, ensuring full enterprise integration. Moreover, SMARTEAM drives systematic change processes, ensuring high product quality while compressing cycle time."

superDimension, a medical equipment manufacturer whose product was cited in 2003 as one of five "Killer Patents" by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Technology Review , considers SMARTEAM "a critical element in our business plan, for achieving rapid product approval by the FDA and rapid product launch from design to manufacturing," according to Yoav Ron, VP Operations. superDimension is using SMARTEAM's FDA template to speed its revolutionary pulmonary diagnostic and treatment through regulatory approvals.

SMARTEAM's Israel user base, including Alcatel Telecom Israel Ltd., Nova Measuring Instruments Ltd., and more, has grown steadily over the years, as new and existing customers spanning the industry spectrum turn to SMARTEAM PLM to drive business processes and extended enterprise connectivity.
