Agile to Integrate to i2 Electronics Database Providing Access to Millions of Electronic Components

Agile Software Corporation announced that they have entered an agreement with i2 Technologies, Inc. to provide access to i2 materials and parts content across the Agile PLM solution. This connectivity to the i2 electronics database enables companies to locate and analyze electronic components to ensure their compliance with product design goals, including environmental directives such as WEEE and RoHS, in time for the July 2006 deadline.

Through this connectivity, i2 content will be accessible across the entire Agile PLM solution. Upon completion of connectivity, Agile customers will have access to i2's 4DOnline Parts Universe, which provides obsolescence data, alternate part information, part datasheets and technical parameters for millions of electronic components from global manufacturers. With i2 content accessible through Agile PLM, users will be able to proactively assess the impact of component obsolescence and streamline new part research and supply risk assessment processes, which are critical for new products introduction and on-going product cost management.

"As a leading provider of electronic component information, it is i2's objective to bring component intelligence content to every design engineer's desktop, enabling users to have access to updated critical part and materials information," said Don Lesem, i2 vice president of content and SRM. "Connectivity with Agile's leading PLM solutions will provide i2 with an exciting opportunity to extend our reach to this engineering community. This connectivity is especially important with global environmental regulations going into effect in 2006."

"With the July 2006 deadline for compliance to WEEE and RoHS directives quickly approaching, we are seeing a Y2K situation where companies are scrambling to make sure that they will be ready in time," said Chris Wong, Agile chief product officer. "Managing supply chains across geographies and keeping all stakeholders involved in the process current on part and materials information is a continuous challenge. Making key product decisions for products with thousands of components requires availability of detailed part attribute information throughout the product lifecycle from concept to end of life and disposal. Through this agreement with i2, our customers will be able to easily leverage comprehensive content from i2 to streamline their decision making processes, while also ensuring their compliance to industry standards by the deadline."
