3Dconnexion Sponsors Dassault Systemes Certified Instructor Program
3Dconnexion®, a Logitech® company, and developer of 3D motion controllers announced that Dassault Systemes' standard CATIA training modules, known as the Workspace Learning Solutions, have incorporated training on 3Dconnexion devices. With the information and hands-on training exercises included in the training, users will realize the benefits of 3D motion controllers-improved productivity and comfort. Customers are able to receive this education worldwide from CATIA certified instructors.
"3Dconnexion has been a long-time partner of Dassault Systemes and has immediately embraced our 'Companion' technology to support education around our solutions," says Michel Recan, Dassault Systemes Education Manager. "Because many of our customers who use the Workplace Learning Solutions to deploy V5 education have also adopted the devices from 3Dconnexion, we have felt it natural to incorporate learning objects on these devices to facilitate the deployment. We are pleased with 3Dconnexion sponsoring our Certified Instructor Program whereby some of the instructors who have met the rigorous certification requirements will be provided with a special version of 3Dconnexion's SpaceTraveler mobile motion controller-branded with the prestigious 'CATIA Certified Instructor' logo."
The standard CATIA Workspace Learning Solutions package explains how to benefit from Two Handed PowerT, where a user positions objects with one hand on the motion controller while the other hand simultaneously selects and edits with a mouse. The key advantage for the user is that design tasks in CATIA are completed up to 30% faster, and with greater comfort, because 50% of the mouse movements are eliminated. The training includes actual hands-on training involving several short exercises on using the motion controller with CATIA. The information is incorporated into training for CATIA V5 R14 and later releases and is available immediately.
"This is a milestone for us and we look at this as a powerful endorsement and a sign that our paradigm of Two Handed Power is becoming more mainstream for CAD users," said Wolfgang Hausen, CEO of 3Dconnexion Inc. "Two years ago we had announced that the support for our devices was actually incorporated right into the CATIA V5 release. Now becoming part of the standard training modules is the logical next step."
