Sequence's CoolTime Validated as the Most Accurate and Highest Capacity Dynamic Voltage Drop Tool

Sequence Design announced that leading semiconductor companies have validated CoolTime as the most accurate, cell-based dynamic voltage drop tool available in the market. These companies have validated accuracy results from CoolTime against silicon, HSPICE and HSIM.

SPICE-like accuracy is critical for electrical sign-off for sub-130 nanometer designs. This level of accuracy from CoolTime comes with extraordinary capacity and performance. CoolTime has handled designs up to 50M gates in overnight runs.

CoolTime vs Silicon

On a 110 nanometer testchip with 9 layers running at 300MHz, CoolTime correlated to silicon on within 2% on power and dynamic voltage drop. Voltage waveforms from CoolTime were accurate on peak, shape and duration. CoolTime's accurate analysis of package inductance was key to silicon correlation.

CoolTime vs HSPICE

When CoolTime was run in high accuracy Accuwave mode, results were the most accurate in the industry. On a testcase with long interconnect, CoolTime was accurate within 5% of HSPICE on currents and voltage drop. Transient waveform correlation was exceptional for signatures of current and voltage waveforms.

CoolTime vs HSIM

On a full chip design, CoolTime correlated to HSIM for standard cells, macros and I/O pads. On this design CoolTime, operating at the gate level, was able to analyze in hours what takes days for transistor level analysis.

CoolTime is an electrical integrity analysis suite for the concurrent analysis of power, voltage drop, timing, and signal integrity that leverages the company's Columbus tools for RLC modeling. With an emphasis on instantaneous voltage drop, CoolTime overcomes limitations of existing static IR-drop tools.
