LMS Introduces LMS Virtual.Lab Designer, a Scalable Simulation Solution Integrated in CATIA V5

LMS International announced the release of LMS Virtual.Lab Designer, a new CATIA V5 add-on software suite that gives users direct access to dedicated simulation solutions for system dynamics, acoustics, fatigue-life and durability. LMS Virtual.Lab Designer also delivers mesh-based design capabilities that allow users to modify FE simulation models and to efficiently analyze multiple design options. LMS Virtual.Lab Designer is fully embedded in the CATIA V5 environment, and enables CATIA V5 users to analyze the performance of parts and systems up-front in the design process, without the need to leave their preferred PLM solution. Virtual.Lab Designer is based on the LMS Virtual.Lab software suite for functional performance engineering, and can be upscaled with the extensive simulation capabilities and broad range of engineering disciplines available in LMS Virtual.Lab.

Since its initial launch in 2001, a large number of leading manufacturing companies have adopted LMS Virtual.Lab as their standard simulation platform for functional performance engineering. LMS Virtual.Lab integrates multiple mission-critical simulation disciplines in a single integrated environment. Its breakthrough modeling and simulation capabilities and its innovative hybrid simulation concepts, integrating virtual models and test-based models, have helped numerous engineering teams in efficiently analyzing and optimizing complex mechanical design.

LMS Virtual.Lab Designer provides the LMS Virtual.Lab simulation capabilities as an embedded solution in CATIA V5. It enables designers and CAE engineers to virtually test the static and dynamic strength of their design, its system dynamics, acoustic behavior and fatigue-life performance, all from within one single CATIA V5 session. LMS Virtual.Lab Designer also provides direct access to a broad range of simulation capabilities for structural analysis using NASTRAN and ANSYS. The CATIA V5-embedded simulation capabilities eliminate time-consuming data transfers and translations, guarantee a full association between the CAD design and simulation processes, and greatly facilitate the analysis of multiple design options.

LMS Virtual.Lab Designer is fully compatible and upscalable to the complete LMS Virtual.Lab suite for functional performance engineering, which offers integrated simulation capabilities for multiple engineering disciplines. This allows CATIA V5 users to supplement their simulation capabilities with advanced functionality and industry specific vertical simulation applications, and to gradually extend their installation as the scope and diversity of their simulation needs evolves. Virtual.Lab Designer therefore represents a truly scalable solution that fully leverages the initial investments in the customer's preferred PLM solution.
