Teseda's New OpenDFT Initiative Completes the Design-for-Manufacturing Flow, Uniting Design, Test, and Manufacturing to Improve Semiconductor Yields and Profitability

Teseda Corporation announced the OpenDFTT initiative to exploit the full power of design-for-test (DFT), uniting design, test, and manufacturing to cut weeks from time-to-money and improve device yield and profitability. Working in concert with leading electronic design automation (EDA) software and automated test equipment (ATE) companies, Teseda has developed the Teseda OpenDFT WorkBenchT software that brings DFT-Intelligent interactive validation, debug, and diagnosis to ATE platforms. Teseda, in cooperation with Agilent Technologies, also announced the development of the Teseda OpenDFT WorkBench software for the Agilent 93000 SOC Series platform. By leveraging DFT throughout the test cycle to speed silicon debug, manufacturing ramp, failure analysis, and yield learning, Teseda's OpenDFT solutions complement and complete the design-for-manufacturing (DFM) flow, speeding yield enhancement and improving profits for semiconductor companies.

Teseda tools support all of the major EDA/DFT vendors, including Cadence, LogicVision, Magma Design Automation, Mentor Graphics, Synopsys, and Syntest. With today's announcement Teseda supports the Agilent 93000 with STIL transportability and the development of the Teseda OpenDFT WorkBench software. In a separate announcement today Teseda announced STIL transportability verification support for the Yokogawa TS6000 SOC Test Family.

"Teseda's OpenDFT solutions add significant value to our existing investment in DFT design software and ATE hardware platforms," said Bill Fritz, director of manufacturing technology (operations assembly and test), Agere Systems. "Such solutions are important in helping Agere continue to provide the world-class IC testing our customers expect while at the same time helping to drive down test costs and improve time-to-market and time-to-volume. It's a win-win situation for Agere and our customers. Taking full advantage of the DFT embedded in the design helps us to optimize the manufacturability and yields of our products earlier in the design-to-test cycle, enabling us to achieve more profitable, high volume manufacturing sooner."

"Our customers have applied the Agilent 93000 Single Scalable Platform in production test across the full range of DFT methodologies by virtue of our 'Power of DFT3' strategy," said Tom Newsom, vice-president and general manager of Agilent's SOC Business Unit. "Our work with Teseda demonstrates Agilent's continued commitment to open systems and standards adoption. Leveraging the openness of the 93000 architecture, Teseda's OpenDFT initiative is extending the reach of the 93000 to DFT-focused engineering test. Our customers will be able to optimize yields, maximize the return on their current test investment, and achieve faster time-to-market and lower cost-of-test. "

"Synopsys and Teseda are working together to deliver industry-leading test automation and yield enhancement solutions that help ensure rapid success for our customers' latest designs," said David Hsu, director of marketing, DFT, DFY, and Extraction, Synopsys, Inc. "Teseda's OpenDFT solutions can help Synopsys GalaxyT Test solution deliver superior DFT diagnostics and improved Design-for-Yield (DFY) benefits through one consistent design toolset that interfaces to multiple ATE platforms."

"We are very pleased with the OpenDFT initiative from Teseda," said Dwayne Burek, DFT architect at Magma Design Automation. "Magma is constantly striving to increase designer productivity. Through our work with Teseda and the OpenDFT initiative, we can now offer our mutual customers a complete RTL-to-GDSII solution that includes DFT and provides a seamless interface to desktop and production testers. The Teseda OpenDFT WorkBench software will provide an added tool for validating, debugging, and diagnosing Magma's automatically-generated test patterns. Time-to-market and yield management are two of our customers' biggest challenges. We see the OpenDFT initiative as a way of providing commonality across multiple ATE platforms, making yield learning and failure analysis more effective."

"Our customers are investing in DFT to improve their time-to-market, quality, and profitability," said Steve Morris, president and CEO of Teseda. "Teseda's OpenDFT solutions increase customer's DFT return-on-investment by integrating their current investments in design and test software, engineering, and test hardware platforms, and manufacturing process flows into a streamlined DFM flow to quickly isolate manufacturing defects. The compelling combination of the Agilent 93000 and the Teseda OpenDFT WorkBench software will enable our mutual customers to exploit the full potential of DFT to speed their products to market with a streamlined DFM flow. In addition, Teseda will be providing advanced solutions that will enable customers to leverage DFT test results to enhance their DFM flows and optimize yields."

Teseda's new OpenDFT WorkBench software brings DFT-Intelligent validation, debug, and diagnosis to ATE, leveraging DFT to cut weeks from DFT validation, silicon debug, manufacturing ramp, failure analysis, and yield learning.
