Formation Systems' Optiva Solution Enables Barber Foods to Enhance and Improve its Product Development Process

Formation Systems announced that Barber Foods, a premier manufacturer of prepared poultry products, has strengthened its product development process using Formation Systems' flagship software, Optiva. Optiva has enabled Barber to increase productivity while continuing to ensure the regulatory compliance of its global brands.

Barber selected Formation Systems' Optiva after a worldwide search for a software solution that would help the company consolidate its product development process and integrate disparate systems into one centralized, easy-to-use solution. Today, all of Barber Food's product data, formulas and raw material information are stored within one data repository, saving the company time and money while reducing the chance of costly errors and recalls. Optiva also provides the company's food technologists with productivity tools that assist in the continual creation of innovative products.

Using Formation Systems' proprietary FastTrack Best Practice Implementation methodology, Barber Foods implemented Optiva within 52 calendar days, far faster than it would have taken for any other enterprise PLM software.

"Formation Systems' FastTrack methodology, expert consulting services and deep domain knowledge in product design and development were crucial in the efficient configuration of Optiva at Barber Foods," said Bob Lowe, vice president of Information Systems at Barber Foods. "As a result, we were able to demonstrate real business improvement and transformed our product development into a growth engine in less than three months."

Additionally, Barber has been using Optiva to automate the generation of food label content, including allergen calculations, so the company can comply with U.S. Food and Drug Administration regulations as well as food regulations around the world.
