JT Open Technical Review Board Holds First Meeting to Provide Technical Guidance for Data Sharing Initiative-PLM Industry Leaders and Global Man
UGS announced the successful inaugural meeting of the JT Open Technical Review Board (TRB) and the election of the first TRB chairperson.
The JT Open Program is an innovative global initiative launched in November 2003 to support the use of JT-the world's most widely used data format for product visualization, collaboration and data sharing-within the PLM industry. Its members represent end-user companies, independent software vendors and non-profit organizations from around the world. UGS organized JT Open at the request of its customers in order to establish JT as a common language for sharing information in the PLM industry.
The objective of the TRB is to provide the JT Open program with the technical guidance and expertise necessary to guide JT development and maintain its industry leading position. The JT Open TRB attendees included Alias, DaimlerChrysler, Caterpillar, GM, Ford, Opticore, PTC, Renault, Theorem, UGS and Visteon.
Dr. Reinhold Klass, manager EDM System Integration, DaimlerChrysler, was elected as the TRB's first chairperson. Dr. Klass brings a wealth of industry and technical expertise to this role and is well known within industry standards bodies, including the Strategic Automotive Product Data Standards Industry Group (SASIG).
"JT data is critical to enhancing communication and collaboration throughout the global PLM industry and the JT Open initiative will help ensure its growth and success and drive the standardization," said Dr. Klass. "The JT Open TRB plays an important role in this effort through its review and coordination of technical enhancements that will maintain the world-class functionality of JT-enabled applications. I look forward to serving as chairperson for this important organization."
The TRB is one of two governance bodies associated with the JT Open initiative. The other is the Management Review Board (MRB), which held its first meeting earlier this year.
Additional material presented at the TRB, along with meeting minutes and actions, are posted on the JT Open web site at http://www.jtopen.com .
