PLM Australasia and VPAC Announce Partnership
A new strategic alliance between Product Lifecycle Management Australasia and the Victorian Partnership for Advanced Computing Limited (VPAC) will take leading edge engineering solutions to academia and industry. VPAC's Centre for Computational Prototyping (CfCP) will use UGS' NX design and simulation software, sold and supported by plm, to drive advanced research and development and industry solutions (including CAD, visualization and CAE technology).
VPAC was established in 2000 by a consortium of six Victorian Universities, including La Trobe University, Monash University, RMIT University, Swinburne University of Technology, the University of Ballarat and the University of Melbourne, for the purpose of providing Advanced Computing services and facilities to the Australian research community. During 2004 Deakin University became the 7th member university.
"NX software has quickly become the foundation on which savvy engineering companies design, modify, simulate, analyze and refine products. VPAC has made an important strategic decision that gives engineers good exposure to NX-a tool commonly used by companies operating on a world's best practice level," said Dennis Colusso, director of plm. "At the all-important educational level, Australia's engineers now have a powerful tool that not only cuts design and development time immensely, it also facilitates real-time file sharing via the web by engineers situated anywhere in the world.
"Our association with VPAC gives us the benefit of being linked with an organization combining six esteemed universities who see the importance of sharing its state of the art, internationally recognized Advanced Computing Facility with the industry," added Colusso. "VPAC's stakeholders and clients are realizing the benefits of cutting edge advanced computing tool and capabilities."
