Analysis Driven Design Becoming the Standard for Major Japanese Manufacturers
Moldflow Corporation announced that it has added Seiko Epson to its growing list of customers who have made repeat investments in Moldflow's Design Analysis products. During the first quarter of fiscal 2005, Seiko Epson purchased multiple seats of the new Moldflow Plastics Advisers add-on modules to increase their ability to identify and correct potential design and part performance issues in the earliest stages of the product creation phase.
Ryuji Sawada, Manager of Seiko Epson's Engineering Support department said, "We have historically used CAE to assure part quality for our ultra-sensitive printing product, but our design team had encountered some difficulty in determining if we would have part performance issues after production. The introduction of the Moldflow Performance Adviser module into our design process allows our product designers to easily identify simple part warpage and other part performance issues early in our product creation process, without the need to employ high-level CAE skills. We believe Moldflow software has helped us improve our development process and has allowed us to further develop our efficient, multifunction and ultra-accurate printing machines."
Ken Welch, executive vice president and general manager of Moldflow's Design Analysis business noted, "The momentum for Moldflow products in Japan is part of a worldwide recognition that analysis is a required step in the product design process and provides tangible benefits to a manufacturer's bottom line. Companies like Seiko Epson that invest in and deploy Moldflow tools not only reap the financial benefits of an optimized design to manufacture process today, but they also put in place a product development procedure that will help keep them competitive into the future."
