Omnify Software Introduces Omnify 2.8 for Continued Success in Delivering the Most Comprehensive PLM Solution for Small to Midsize OEMs
Omnify Software , a provider of product lifecycle management (PLM) software for mid-market electronic, medical, mechanical, and defense OEMs, announced the availability of Omnify 2.8, a business-ready product lifecycle management solution that enhances design and manufacturing collaboration by providing a complete view of the product development process throughout the entire enterprise. The new version of the product features enhanced document vaulting, advanced searching capabilities, a new reporting module, and extended user-defined field classification.
Omnify 2.8 enhances product development for mid-sized manufacturers throughout their entire extended enterprise by providing a single, central location for managing product data. The Web-architected product offers out-of-the-box, bi-directional integration with existing design and business systems enabling rapid implementation without disrupting the customer's existing work environments. The new version of the software offers several new capabilities, as well as improvements to the software suite.
New features include key word search, required fields and a reporter module.
Key Word Search: Omnify 2.8 features a new proprietary search engine that allows users to specify a key word or search phrase and can search any specified fields within the system. It provides a multi-threaded searching function which allows the system to return search values immediately while concurrently processing a background search, enabling the user to continue to interact with the program while searching takes place.
Required Fields: Users can define fields that must be filled in prior to submitting a new part request or engineering change (ECO). This allows the system to set up defaults that must be adhered to in order to ensure that the appropriate information/data set is supplied prior to submission of a new part request or ECO.
Reporter Module: This module provides new standard reports such as change history, used/unused, and approved vendors as well as the ability to compare two or more bill of materials (BOMs).
Craig Chin, Director of Value Chain Research for Aberdeen Group, feels that the PLM market is in need of more advanced and cost efficient solutions that are able to handle the needs of small and middle market OEMs. "SMB adoption of PLM solutions has been delayed due to the significant investment of time, resources, and money that is required. In today's complex business environment, PLM companies should look to fill this important, often overlooked, niche that enables companies with modest technology budgets to have access to comprehensive product suites that can easily integrate with their systems and will not take months to roll out."
Omnify customers already view the enhancements in Omnify 2.8 to add significant value to the comprehensive Omnify PLM solution. "Omnify Software continues to provide Mangrove Systems with an effective tool for real time online part structures, Bill of Material, Change Management, and vendor/component data information enabling rapid integration of our documentation with that of our manufacturing partners", said Richard Hermes of Mangrove. "Omnify 2.8 will offer the Mangrove design engineering and operations groups inherent, structured documentation packages to generate their own Change Orders and New Part Requests. Further, 2.8 is capable of detailed parts disposition with variable granularity and the vaulting feature enables Mangrove to provide complete and secure documentation packages to our outside suppliers."
Enhanced features of Omnify 2.8 are designed to increase the security and efficiency of managing product data even further for Omnify's customers. These features include:
Complete Vaulting: Omnify 2.8 will feature enhanced document vaulting for complete Documentation Management. This will allow for a formal process for changing documents and facilitates easier document collaboration with remote design teams, which enables an easier sharing of documents across the extended enterprise.
Enhanced Attribute Values: Provides an easier manner to control the assignment of attribute values by defining fields where user's can set their own values or must select from a pre-defined list of values.
Enhanced Material Disposition Matrix: This feature allows users to specify separate material disposition location fields and actions that can be defined for items affected by change orders. The location fields and actions are user-customizable, permitting fine-grained materials management.
"Omnify continues to lead the market in delivering a cost efficient and technically advanced PLM solution that can cater to small and middle market OEMs," stated Chuck Cimalore, Chief Technology Officer at Omnify Software. "We evaluated the needs of our customers and understood that they required a more sophisticated search engine, a complete vaulting system, and extended user-defined fields and value options to ensure that they are able to get their products to market as quickly as possible.
