Proficiency's Collaboration Gateway Wins Technology of the Year Award from INDUSTRYWEEK

Proficiency announced it is a winner in INDUSTRYWEEK's 12th annual Technology and Innovations Program. The editors of the leading manufacturing management magazine have selected the Collaboration GatewayT as one of the Technologies of the Year for 2004.

"To select the winners, the editors solicit reader nominations for a judging process designed to recognize outstanding achievement in technology," said Patricia Panchak, editor-in-chief of INDUSTRYWEEK. "To be eligible, candidate technologies must relate in a significant way to accomplishments and achievements in the current year."

Winners of INDUSTRYWEEK's Technology and Innovations Awards span the entire range of science and engineering. The editors seek developments that show great potential for redirecting business opportunities and creating new growth in the manufacturing world. Represented among the winners are software and hardware solutions for manufacturing, new computer-aided systems for management decision-making, R&D developments with the potential for creating new industries, and commercial products that represent bellwethers for fundamental change.

"We are honored that INDUSTRYWEEK has bestowed its Technology of the Year distinction on Proficiency's Collaboration Gateway," said Trenton H. Brown, president and chief executive officer of Proficiency. "Proficiency is fundamentally changing the way products are developed and manufactured. This recognition is evidence of our success, and further illustrates our unwavering commitment to worldwide automotive, aerospace, and heavy equipment manufacturers and their suppliers. Our Collaboration Gateway removes inefficiencies from the design process, enabling organizations to drastically reduce cost and time in product development."

Proficiency's Collaboration Gateway enables the exchange of design information and best practices between extended product development teams regardless of internal processes, systems or databases. At the core of the Collaboration Gateway is the Universal Product Representation (UPR) -- a unique representation of mechanical computer-aided design (MCAD) intelligence including features, constraints, dimensions, histories, assemblies, metadata, and other information. The current version of the Collaboration GatewayT enables high-throughput exchange of native CAD models between Dassault Systemes' CATIA® v4 and CATIA® v5, PTC's Pro/ENGINEER® and Pro/ENGINEER® WildfireT and UGS' Unigraphics® NX and I-deas® NX Series.
