Holthausen Winding Implements iCenter for Autodesk Inventor® to Reduce Lead Times and Accelerate Bill Of Material Creation

Holthausen Winding is a well established German based company for textile winding machines. Holthausen Winding's main challenge was how to improve communications with customers and suppliers in order to reduce lead times. In order to reduce lead times Holthausen Winding needed to find a more efficient process to communicate with customers and suppliers. The process of manually exporting a bill of material to Microsoft Excel® was time consuming and was prone to many errors because the exported bill of material was never associated to Autodesk Inventor®. It was taking Holthausen Winding a total of 2 full days to generate a complete bill of material of a winding machine. The bigger problem was, when design changes occurred, they had to update the parts list manually in order not to lose the information added in the Excel® document.

Holthausen Winding needed a solution that would automatically generate an accurate parts-list based on any changes made to the design. The solution was to utilize iCenter to quickly and accurately enter iProperty data into Inventor documents. Once the iProperty information was entered, it provided a data source that iCenter could access to generate any type of custom part-list report. iCenter's report engine allowed Holthausen Winding to create custom indented bill of materials and a parts-only report that followed the company's corporate standards. Lothar Boekels, President of Holthausen Winding claims "iCenter for Autodesk Inventor has reduced our bill of material formatting by days." Lothar goes on to state "what once took us days in excel we can accomplish in seconds with a simple push of an iCenter button."

Netstream's iCenter application provides powerful Bill of Material management to users of Autodesk Inventor® and to departments other than engineering who do not have access to a CAD system. iCenter enables Bill of Material data access throughout the organization and supply chain.
