Spicer Corporation Joins JT Open Program and Delivers JT file Format Support

Spicer Corporation joins DaimlerChrysler, General Motors, Intel, Microsoft, UGS and other industry heavyweights in supporting the JT Open initiative.

With its new membership in JT Open and implementation of the JT Toolkit, Spicer adds another leading file format to the hundreds of supported formats in the Imagenation product line and further strengthens its 3D visualization offering.

JT, the most widely used file format for 3D product visualization and collaboration in the PLM industry, provides a highly compact format with robust entity support, high performance and excellent support for large models and assemblies.

JT Open, a worldwide community of users, vendors and interested parties in the PLM segment, promotes open distribution of the JT file format so that member companies can easily and inexpensively exchange 3D data for visualization and collaboration. Standardizing on a single, effective format initiative streamlines internal and supply chain processes, resulting in cost and time savings for all parties.

"Spicer's implementation of JT delivers on the promise to support the international industry-standard technologies which our customers require," says Tony Prilesnik, Imagenation product manager. "Many of these companies now need to share JT-based visualization data with all members of their supply chain. With robust JT support, Imagenation 3D+ becomes a very attractive alternative."

"JT is the world's most widely-used data format for product visualization, collaboration and data sharing within the PLM industry," said Mark Matousek, JT Open program manager for UGS. "UGS organized JT Open at the request of its customers in order to establish JT as a common language for sharing information throughout their product lifecycles and across their extended enterprises. We are pleased to welcome Spicer as one of the newest members of JT Open-a group that represents end-user companies, independent software vendors and non-profit organizations from around the world."

Imagenation is the flagship product in the Spicer suite of Universal Viewing Solutions. Over half a million users, from small businesses to Fortune 500 companies, use Imagenation every day to scan, clean up, convert, view, mark up, and print documents.
