U.S. Department of Education Selects Sunflower Systems as Enterprise-Wide Asset Management Solution

Sunflower Systems announced that the U.S. Department of Education has awarded a contract to Sunflower AssetsT to track and manage all its accountable assets department-wide.

More and more, organizations are choosing Sunflower Assets--the company's flagship product--to considerably improve their asset management processes and tighten fiscal accountability. With a holistic view of each asset throughout its lifecycle, Sunflower Assets provides a system of record to substantiate financial reporting, enables analytics for better allocation and utilization, and maximizes accountability to ensure proper stewardship of every asset. This award demonstrates the company's continued leadership in providing comprehensive lifecycle asset management solutions.

"We are experiencing increased demand from organizations to fully track and manage the location, usage and performance of all their enterprise assets," commented Robert Kaehler, vice president and general manager, Sunflower Systems. "Lifecycle Asset Management has risen to the forefront of many organizations' strategic efforts, namely due to recent regulations and initiatives such as the Joint Financial Management Improvement Program (JFMIP), Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002, Health Protection and Information Accountability Act (HIPAA) and the Unique Identifier (UID), as well as next generation technology such as Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) and the single version of the truth through Web services."

Lifecycle Asset Management is the process of monitoring, controlling and accounting for all enterprise assets throughout their lifecycle -- from the time that funds are obligated for an asset through transfers of accountability, inventories, financial accounting, capture of maintenance events, calculation of the total cost of ownership, excess and retirement. This includes fixed assets, intellectual property, hazardous materials, sensitive data, IT assets and accountable property.

Kaehler continued, "As Sunflower Assets continues to be extensively adopted across various vertical markets including federal civilian agencies, government contractors and health care organizations, this win validates the quality of our solution and our philosophy of lifecycle asset management for all assets across the enterprise."
