Delcam to Host Free Machining and Inspection Workshop at Autosport Show

Delcam will host a free workshop on the latest developments in machining and inspection technology at the NEC, Birmingham, on 13th January, the first day of the Autosport Engineering Exhibition. The workshop will show how these techniques can help all companies looking to improve quality and boost productivity, especially those that need to produce complex prototypes, tooling or components in shorter lead times.

The workshop will cover recent innovations in five-axis and high-speed machining in the latest release of Delcam's PowerMILL CAM system, with particular attention being given to port machining and to the manufacture of components by five-axis machining from solid. Machining from solid is especially attractive to motorsport companies that need to produce small numbers of components in very short timescales.

New functionality will also be described in the PowerINSPECT software for inspection with CMMs and for on-machine verification. Both the FIA and NASCAR to ensure compliance with their regulations use this software.

Companies within the autosport industry already using Delcam's software include Proton KR, the only independent motorbike team taking part in the Moto GP series, ATR Group, pioneers of the use of carbon fibre-reinforced plastics in autosport, Centro Ricerche Cagiva, the research center for the Cagiva, Agusta and Husqvarna brands, and Zytek, which recently won the contract for the manufacture of all engines for the new A1 Grand Prix series.
