Magna International Inc. Adopts Actify SpinFire Professional 2004v2

Actify Inc. has entered into an agreement with Magna International Inc., the leading global supplier of technologically advanced automotive systems, components and complete modules.

Actify's SpinFireT Professional 2004v2 will be used by employees, technical and non-technical, to provide the ability to view, measure, mark-up and share 2D and 3D CAD data without the need of the native CAD system. Mobile Laptop users will be able to use Spinfire to enhance their CAD capabilities while they are on the road.

With approximately 77,000 employees at 215 manufacturing divisions and 48 product development and engineering centers throughout North and South America, Mexico, Europe and Asia, SpinFire Professional 2004v2 will allow Magna to realize cost savings and productivity gains in product design, procurement, quoting and estimating, manufacturing, sales, marketing and support.

"As Magna is known for its innovative technology and product design for automotive systems and components, we found that in order to keep up with the demand for our products, we needed a system that would help streamline the communication of digital designs throughout our enterprise on a global scale," said Ron Keyser Vice President, Operations for Magna Services Inc. "Plus, with over 48 development centers and thousands of individuals needing to access a multitude of files created in many different formats, the ability for non-technical users to view current 3-D CAD data is crucial to our success."

SpinFire Professional 2004 v2 supports files created in any major CAD file format converting them into .3D, which is a world-renowned, compressed and secure CAD visualization file format. This allows manufacturers to use a single software to view, measure, mark-up and share all major 2D and 3D data formats without needing to purchase and maintain seats of a native CAD system. This streamlines the communication process and allows for paperless distribution of complex design data, ultimately increasing productivity and cutting costs.

"As one of the largest and diversified automotive suppliers in the world, Magna will benefit from the SpinFire 2004v2 digital design communication solution because of our multi-doc workspace, digital mock-up capability, secure .3D format and the easiest to use design communication tool on the market today," said Randy Ochs, president and CEO of Actify. "Magna International represents another milestone for Actify as we increase our presence in the automotive industry. The implementation of SpinFire will ultimately result in productivity gains and significant cost savings for Magna, enabling them to bring products to market quicker and easily collaborate with their global customers and supply chain."

Magna develops and manufactures automotive systems, assemblies, modules and components, and engineers and assembles complete vehicles, primarily for sale to original equipment manufacturers of cars and light trucks in North America, Europe, Mexico, South America and Asia.
