Synthon Selects Agile to Drive Quality Management

Agile Software Corporation announced that Synthon, a Netherlands-based developer of advanced pharmaceuticals, has selected Agile as the basis of its quality management system (QMS) in order to streamline change management and corrective actions across its growing product portfolio. With Agile, Synthon expects to improve product compliance, reduce costs and meet critical time-to-market goals.

The Agile-based QMS solution will feature document management, product record control, and corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) management, which will enable Synthon to meet strict, international compliance requirements pertaining to product quality, safety and efficacy across its diverse portfolio. The solution will also help Synthon manage its rapidly expanding product portfolio and create transparency across its complex development and supply chain.

"The Agile PLM system will bolster three of our core capabilities-innovation, fast-track R&D, and superior quality across our offerings-while helping us achieve our critical time-to-market goals," said Joris Priem, director of operations, Synthon. "With our product range rapidly expanding, we required a solution that would provide our global, multidisciplinary teams with visibility into product development and quality status, to enable decision support across multiple product lines in various stages of the pipeline. With Agile PLM, our teams will be able to collaborate from initial chemical development through to the pharmaceutical development of the finished dosage."

Founded in 1991, Synthon is an independent group of affiliated pharmaceutical companies, with a global network spanning five countries and more than 600 employees. The company is dedicated to the development, registration, production and distribution of a wide range of advanced pharmaceutical products. Prior to its selection of Agile, Synthon relied upon paper-based processes and disjointed, point technology solutions.

"Pharmaceutical companies such as Synthon are quickly recognizing the value of PLM-based solutions for improving products from a 360-degree vantage point," said Jay Fulcher, Agile president and COO. "We are pleased that Synthon selected Agile. We look forward to providing Synthon a PLM platform that will enable them to accelerate time-to-market for new products, improve margins for existing products, and comply with the highest quality standards and regulatory mandates."
