Alstom to Standardize on EMC Documentum Enterprise Content Management Platform

EMC Corporation announced that Alstom Power Service Switzerland, a business division of Alstom and market leader in the power generation and transport industry, has deployed the EMC Documentum Enterprise Content Management platform. The deployment enables Alstom's global business units to create, manage, deliver and archive its enterprise content, using the highly-scalable and flexible platform, repository and content services uniquely delivered by the Documentum platform.

Alstom is a global leader with 76,000 employees in more than 70 countries worldwide. The company builds power plants and has supplied approximately 20 percent of the world's total installed capacity in power generation. Alstom projects are on every continent in the world, from rail transportation in the U.S., Europe and Asia, to tankers, ferries and passenger ships, like the Queen Mary II. In the energy sector, Alstom delivers products and services such as high performance turbines for gas and steam power stations and environmental control stations. Alstom's annual sales are around 17 billion euros.

"The EMC Documentum platform is highly scalable and customizable, enabling the business units to adapt the platform according to specific business requirements," said Peter Naglicki, Project Leader at Alstom Power Service. "Alstom originally deployed Documentum platform in specific areas of our business, and with further deployments of this proven enterprise content management solution, we plan to reap the benefits of exchanging ideas, information and best practices across the company."

Alstom's business divisions are geographically dispersed, but work closely together in many business areas or projects. For example, the Alstom Power Service exchanges large amounts of information and documentation with the Alstom Turbo Systems business division. In addition to content exchange, the Documentum platform enables the business units to share related business processes to maximize operational efficiency.
