Actify's Visualization Technology Proving Valuable To Automotive Industry

Actify Inc. announced that it has solidified its position as the visualization technology of choice for the automotive industry through the recent addition of both Lear Corporation and Magna International as Actify customers. These companies add to Actify's growing customer list that already includes Daimler Chrysler, Ford, Volkswagon, Volvo, General Motors and Mitsubishi Motors. Through these customer engagements, Actify is playing a pivotal role in helping the automotive industry communicate 2D and 3D CAD designs throughout the enterprise.

Traditionally, both Lear Corporation and Magna International have been limited to communicating CAD designs and design data through the distribution of two dimensional hard copy drawings and documents. With both companies having over 200 design and manufacturing facilities globally, it became clear to them that digital design communication was a much more effective way to share designs than the traditional paper method they were employing. By adopting SpinFire Professional 2004v2 both Lear and Magna will immediately benefit from a streamlined digital design communication process whereby 2D and 3D CAD designs and data are much easier for knowledge workers to share both internally and throughout the supply chain, ultimately saving time, money and bringing products to market faster.

"As Magna is known for its innovative technology and product design for automotive systems and components, we found that in order to keep up with the demand for our products we needed a system that would help streamline the communication of digital designs throughout our enterprise on a global scale," said Ron Keyser, vice president of Operations for Magna Services Inc. "Plus, with over 48 development centers and thousands of individuals needing to access a multitude of files created in many different formats, the ability for non-technical users to view current 3-D CAD data is crucial to our success."

Actify's suite of products are designed to enable easy and secure access, communication and distribution of multiple 2D/3D CAD file formats and related design documents throughout global enterprises and worldwide supply chains, without requiring access to native CAD systems. This streamlines the communication process and allows for paperless distribution of complex design data, ultimately increasing productivity and cutting costs.

"We are seeing an industry trend occurring whereby large automotive manufacturers are encouraging OEMs and suppliers to standardize on one digital design communications tool," said Randy Ochs, president and CEO of Actify. "The adoption of our products throughout the automotive industry demonstrates the value automotive manufacturers see in leveraging one, single digital design communication tool to share CAD files on an enterprise-wide scale. Actify is rapidly becoming the standard visualization tool for the automotive industry."

Lear has more than 110,000 employees at 280 facilities located in 34 countries. Magna approximately 81,000 people at 219 manufacturing divisions and 49 product development and engineering centers throughout North and South America, Mexico, Europe and Asia.
