Associativity Leads to Improved Productivity with EdgeCAM Solid Machinist
The latest release of EdgeCAM Solid Machinist includes significant enhancements to help businesses increase productivity and gain a rapid return on investment.
EdgeCAM Solid Machinist loads EdgeCAM Part Modeler, Autodesk Inventor®, Pro/ENGINEER®, SolidWorks® and Solid Edge® files directly into EdgeCAM, where a wide range of innovative features offer a quick and reliable route to manufacture. EdgeCAM Solid Machinist is a integrated CAM system that is truly associative to the CAD model so that the intelligence contained within the model can be fully used, reducing programming and machining time and eliminating the risk of errors. Full toolpath to model associativity means that late design changes can be easily incorporated.
EdgeCAM Solid Machinist uses automatic feature recognition to interrogate the solid model to find machinable features. No matter how complex the part, holes, 2D, 3D and contour pocket and boss features can be found with a single mouse click and information relating to these features extracted. An additional option allows the user to find single, nested or both types of pockets. This information is then used to select the correct tools to machine the features using EdgeCAM's extensive range of cutting strategies.
Automating tool selection reduces machining time and production costs. The latest release of EdgeCAM Solid Machinist includes EdgeCAM Tool Selector. This provides users with the optimum tool selection for machining, based on the available tool store. Cycle times are optimized in line with currently available tooling, giving maximum machining efficiency.
EdgeCAM 9 sees the introduction of EdgeCAM Solid Machinist for CATIA V5 that allows the user to load part and assembly files from CATIA V5 into EdgeCAM. Pathtrace is committed to offer CATIA V5 customers worldwide a CAM solution that enables them to maximize efficiency and productivity.
Also introduced with EdgeCAM 9 is EdgeCAM Solid Machinist for ACIS, which allows the user to load native .sat and .sab files directly into EdgeCAM.
