SAE and Cadpo Deliver Successful CAD Certification Course in Shanghai, China

The Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) and Cadpo announce the successful launch of their first CAD Certification course in Shanghai, China. SAE Automotive CAD Certification is the industry's only international program that provides the standard for developing and measuring automotive CAD skills globally.

This first course was held December 9-13 at the Shanghai Automotive Industry Corporation (SAIC) Group's Training Center. State-run SAIC is the leading passenger carmaker in China. The class included 20 certification candidates from SAIC companies, including General Motors and Delphi, Shanghai Huizong Automotive Manufacturing Company and Automotive Gear Manufacturing.

"We are very pleased to work with Cadpo for SAE Automotive CAD Professional Training," said Jiang Jianhua, vice-director, Shanghai Automotive Industry Training Center (SAITC). "The Body/Structures training that has just completed was a great success. The benefit to the participants is excellent based on the feedback from the class in every area of training-from the instructor to the content to the industry knowledge. We will definitely be running more SAE Automotive training with Cadpo in 2005."

"As SAITC companies move aggressively into automotive design, we need to continue to upgrade our design engineers to learn automotive design best practices," said Wang Ying Lin, associate professor and manager of Training Management. "The SAE Automotive CAD Professional Training and Certification program is very timely to meet SAITC and also China's design and development needs now."

While the experience of engineers/designers in this class varied from two months to five years, they found the class and industry projects equally challenging. Comments included:

•  Qili Peng, design engineer, SAIC Engineering Academy: "The course content is excellent."

•  Li Tao, design engineer, Patac (Shanghai GM): "It's a good course for a designer. I will recommend others to attend."

•  Liu Zhao Hai, design engineer, Patac (Shanghai GM): "This course was very helpful for my work. I hope Cadpo will continue to help improve engineer's industry knowledge level in Asia."

"This program further strengthens SAE's China program," says Kevin Perry, manager, professional development, SAE. "We are encouraged by the positive feedback from these leading automotive manufacturers and are planning additional programs throughout 2005."

"We are excited to partner with SAITC in providing this leading edge certification program to Shanghai automotive companies," says Kevin Noe, president, Cadpo. "The level of interest validates the need for this certification program. With SAITC's support, we can effectively help automotive manufacturers in China apply rapid CAD technology changes to shorten their product development cycle."
