Solid EdgeT Receives 250 Seat Order from German Beverage and Bottling Machinery Maker Krones AG
UGS announced that Krones AG-the world's largest manufacturer of beverage bottling lines and packaging machinery-has purchased an additional 250 seats of Solid Edge T, UGS' 3D computer-aided design (CAD) system for the mainstream PLM market. Krones has been using Solid Edge since 2001.
As part of the PLM project at Krones, the existing 2D CAD systems will be replaced at all five of its German sites.
"Migrating the 2D CAx applications is a major step. The strategic decision in favor of Solid Edge lays the foundation for a major increase in productivity of our entire development-design-production process," says Jürgen Wefers, Manager of Process Management at Krones AG.
"With its trend-setting simple and intuitive user interface, numerous focused applications, handling of large assemblies, excellent standards-based drawing production and comprehensive Application Program Interface (API), Solid Edge is exactly the right system for us," added Gerhard Dietlmeier, Manager of Information Management CAD. "The 2D module, which is fully functional even without a 3D model, allows us to modify existing 2D data quickly and easily without the need for remodeling."
Krones' entire computer-aided-design (CAD) division has standardized on UGS solutions. In addition to Solid Edge, UGS' NXT solution for PET (polyethylene terephthalate) container design, NC programming, and mold development.
Solid System Team GmbH, one of UGS' most successful Solid Edge sales partners in Germany, is handling the Solid Edge implementation, including consulting and training.
"This major order for expanding an existing installation shows that Solid Edge meets the high expectations of a globally leading system engineering company," says Werner Heckl, Managing Director of Solid System Team GmbH.
