Dassault Systemes-France's High-Tech Ambassador at Aichi Expo 2005 in Japan
Dassault Systemes revealed plans for its presence at Aichi Expo 2005, the worldwide exposition taking place in Japan, from March 25 through Sept. 25.
In keeping with the sustainable development theme of the French Pavilion at the expo, Dassault Systemes' exhibit will highlight the power of the company's 3D software solutions for creating innovative products with a global approach geared to saving resources and preserving the environment. The exhibit will include a remarkable "organic" structure designed using the company's 3D simulation software. It will trace the strange object's creation to demonstrate how Dassault Systemes' solutions contribute to sustainable development while enabling innovation.

The extraordinary Dassault Systemes' structure will be a massive, elongated sphere covered by thousands of translucent polypropylene "petals". It is based on a truly novel design that will capture the visitor's imagination. A subtle blend of industry, art, and nature, the object was designed, simulated and produced using DS solutions, CATIA V5, for digital product definition, and DELMIA, for process engineering, in keeping with the spirit of sustainable development.
As soon as they step inside, visitors will be immersed in a dazzling multimedia show. With three giant screens showing videos and five LCD screens demonstrating 3D solutions, visitors will instantly embark on a voyage of discovery to learn how this visually stunning structure came into being. They will see how even the most extravagant, ground-breaking ideas can take shape-and be fully tested-using Dassault Systemes' 3D digital simulation and design software. Visitors will also learn how DS 3D design and simulation software can be used to create any household object in complete harmony with the environment.
Optis, a DS partner that develops and markets software for the simulation of optics, light, and product visualization, provided its SPEOS software solution, based on CATIA V5, to help develop a virtual mockup of the object's lighting system and help designers choose and validate the materials needed to create the object's exterior illumination effect. Optis also provided one of the four simulations presented within the object. Thanks to CATIA V5 and SPEOS, Optis rendered a hyper-realistic 3D video of the final lighting of the booth. Viewing this film, visitors have the impression of seeing the object with an incredible sense of realism.
