Adobe Showcases Solutions for Manufacturing at National Design Engineering Show

Adobe Systems Incorporated kicked off activities at the National Design Engineering Show and Conference, part of National Manufacturing Week in Chicago. Adobe and its partners are demonstrating solutions to help organizations streamline document- and forms-based design collaboration and field service management processes.

In its exhibit (Booth 3615 at McCormick Place Complex), Adobe will demonstrate solutions based on its Adobe® Acrobat® 7.0 desktop and Adobe LiveCycleT server software lines. By employing Adobe technology, in conjunction with that of its partners, manufacturing organizations can more securely and effectively involve suppliers and partners early in the design collaboration process. In addition, they can better empower service channels with mobile and off-line processing capabilities for field service management.

"As aerospace, automotive and electronics companies work to address critical issues such as increasing supply chain complexity, shrinking product lifecycles and compliance requirements, the ability to effectively harness technology is of heightened importance," said Eugene Lee, vice president of marketing, Intelligent Documents Business Unit. "Adobe and its partners are helping manufacturing organizations automate and simplify key document- and forms-based processes that have traditionally been slowed by the inefficiencies of paper."

Adobe partners Agile Software Corporation, Right Hemisphere and Navisware will appear in Adobe theater presentations each day. Agile will illustrate how Agile solutions utilize Adobe software to address critical documentation, version-control and forms-based information management requirements across the extended supply network. Agile PLM solutions use Acrobat, Adobe LiveCycle Designer, Adobe LiveCycle Forms, and Adobe LiveCycle Reader Extensions to enable PDF conversion from everyday document creation programs, allow users to collaborate on PDF files with review and markup tools, manage product record information with electronic forms, and sign-off on final documents.

Right Hemisphere will highlight how Acrobat 7.0 Professional and Right Hemisphere technology enable users to convert computer-aided design (CAD) files to the Universal 3D (U3D) format and incorporate them in Adobe PDF documents. PDF files including U3D objects can then be viewed and interacted with by anyone with free Adobe Reader® 7.0 software.

Navisware, a leading technology company bridging CAD information and enterprise intelligence, will preview support for Adobe LiveCycle Policy Server with its FileLine design documentation security product. Together, the products will offer persistent protection beyond the network perimeter of application files from Autodesk® AutoCAD®, SolidWorks and Microsoft Word (see separate press release issued today by Navisware).

In addition, Adobe will co-present with Intel Corporation on a speaking panel titled, "Mobile Technologies and Intelligent Document Solutions Transform Manufacturing Business Processes." Representatives from the two companies will discuss how manufacturers can link intelligent documents directly to back-end systems via mobile technologies in order to speed processes, and help increase data and information accuracy. They will also demonstrate how 3D data, enabled by U3D, can help transform field service and other business processes. The presentation will take place on Wednesday, March 9, at 9:30 a.m. CDT in Room S405A.
