GEOMAP Announces Support for Autodesk Map 3D 2006

GEOMAP announced support for Autodesk Map® 3D 2006 next generation design and mapping software from Autodesk, Inc. Autodesk Map 3D 2006 is a new way for users to create, manage and share design data and geospatial information with power and precision, ultimately resulting in more informed decisions and increased efficiency.

CAD drawings are commonly imported or digitized for use in the GIS mapping environment of GEOMAP industry solutions. Autodesk Map 3D 2006 enables CAD and GIS data integration by providing creation and editing tools for GIS professionals and the geospatial features that engineers, mapping professionals and CAD technicians require. The improved GIS User Interface allows users to create and edit data without using the command line, thereby improving digitizing productivity and saving time they can use on other vital tasks.

With new MapBooks, GEOMAP customers print the Cartographic Atlas of the land they survey or working drawings at a scale of 1/5000. Because map books can now be published in DWFT file format, anyone in the organization can view electronic maps without costly software, which helps ensure that all are working with the latest information.

"By integrating with the new capabilities in Autodesk Map 3D 2006, GEOMAP enables our joint customers to maximize their productivity," said Chris Bradshaw, vice president of Autodesk's Infrastructure Solutions Division. "We are pleased to have the immediate support of GEOMAP for Autodesk Map 3D 2006."

Gilles Camus, managing director of GEOMAP, notes that, "the combined GEOMAP-Autodesk solution is key to the success of telecom, utilities, government or infrastructure markets, as it provides the perfect tools to design, map and analyze data from infrastructure to land use. Combining GEOMAP Industry Applications and Autodesk software allows engineers, technicians, managers and decision makers to collaborate more efficiently, thus making the entire organization more effective and profitable."
