Mathsoft Strengthens Presence In The UK To Deliver Direct Sales, Training, Support And Professional Consulting

Mathsoft announced it has established a dedicated presence in the UK to promote volume customers of Mathcad® and the new Calculation Management SuiteT, solutions from Mathsoft that help UK engineering organizations profit by effectively managing their calculations. Mathsoft decided to deepen its commitment to the UK market this way because of the prevalence of the company's calculation software here and the abundance of innovative science and engineering organizations. 38 percent of workers with higher education degrees are employed as qualified scientists and engineers, according to government statistics.

Until now, UK operations have been fully managed by Mathsoft business partner Adept Scientific, a distributor of technical and scientific software. Adept Scientific remains an important business partner for Mathsoft and will manage sales and services for all education and single-user customers. Mathsoft will now manage sales and services for commercial and government volume-licensed customers.

Mathsoft has recruited a skilled team of professionals to ensure first-class sales, training, technology support and consultancy services to organizations with volume-licensed software. The team will satisfy mounting demand for the new Mathsoft Calculation Management Suite and the company's flagship Mathcad software. The suite is the first software solution designed to help engineering organizations create and profit from their quantitative engineering information, much of which they generate with Mathcad, the most widely used engineering calculation tool.

Mathsoft's direct service to volume-licensed customers will mean quicker and more efficient support of initiatives like BAE Systems' recent Desktop Re-life project. Mathsoft recently re-engineered its software development kit for the project to ensure that BAE tools on the company's new Windows XP-equipped PCs interoperated with Mathcad. "As Britain's largest defense contractor, we need the best tools available from established solution providers such as Mathsoft for our engineers. Anything less would be unacceptable," said Mark Conlin, analysis development group leader at BAE Systems. "Having a local team from Mathsoft is a great reassurance to us. Its establishment shows a firm commitment to the market here, with the company standing firmly behind its products."

"We are committed to the UK and have had great success thanks to Adept, our sole distributor in the region for the past 20 years," said Mathsoft President and CEO Chris Randles. "It is now time to build on that success, deepen our commitment to the region, and increase the interaction between Mathsoft and our customers. We have recruited staff who will focus exclusively on delivering unsurpassed account management and services to our many corporate customers here."

To mark the establishment of its UK presence, Mathsoft is hosting two informative events designed for customer, prospects and press and focusing on "Faster Innovation in the Engineering Enterprise." The events will feature first-person customer success stories. The first event will take place Wednesday 16th March in Bradford, and the second will take place Friday 18th March in London.
