Seranoa Networks Selects and Deploys Agile Advantage

Agile Software Corporation announced that Seranoa Networks, Inc., a provider of carrier-class service edge solutions, has purchased Agile Advantage 2005 as its PLM solution. Seranoa Networks evaluated a number of options prior to making its decision to license Agile Advantage, a PLM suite developed by Agile specifically to meet the needs of small and medium enterprise (SME) customers.

"As a start-up, product information is our competitive advantage, enabling us to provide unique benefits and differentiation to our customers," said Tom Nolette, vice president of operations, Seranoa Networks. "Control of product information is critical, especially as we scale the organization to meet business demands. Agile Advantage gives us control over our intellectual property and our product operations today, as well as in the future."

Seranoa employs a highly outsourced product development and manufacturing model. "We use internal core resources, while heavily leveraging external resources for mechanical and PCB design, and contract manufacturing, including sourcing management," said Nolette. "Agile Advantage provides the high degree of coordination and control that our operations require to avoid costly delays and errors, and to deliver high quality products to our customers. We looked at several systems during the selection process, and chose Agile Advantage for three primary reasons. First was the proven track record: many of our staff had experience with Agile, and were comfortable with the product and its capabilities. We felt that Agile's viability as a vendor is the strongest among those who serve the SME market. The second reason was solution depth and richness of functionality: the solution solves all of the problems that we need to immediately address. Finally, we chose Agile Advantage because of its scalability: it will grow with us as we grow our business."

Seranoa Networks develops and distributes broadband access edge-aggregation products to service providers. The IPeX Service Edge Concentrators are a family of innovative IP-aware layer-2 switches built to make a service provider's access infrastructure more cost efficient in transporting popular packet services to business customers. With IPeX Service Edge Concentrators, service providers can reduce subscriber port costs, multiply subscriber capacity, optimize transport bandwidth, improve network availability, and deliver profitable new business applications as they migrate to a single, converged IP/MPLS infrastructure.

"Seranoa Networks' decision to invest in Agile Advantage PLM underscores a critical reality for emerging businesses," said Joe Hage, senior vice president and general manager, Agile SME Solutions division. "Product innovation and differentiation help create new markets and win new business, but control and crisp execution of product processes deliver the product quality that keeps hard-won customers satisfied, while controlling costs to build profitability. Seranoa Networks' requirements for affordable, flexible, scalable PLM are common to many of today's emerging businesses, and were at the heart of our efforts in developing our Agile Advantage offering. Agile is pleased to have Seranoa Networks as a customer, and to play a role in their success."

Seranoa Networks, Inc. develops a family of carrier-class Service Edge Concentration products enabling service providers to cost-effectively deliver increasingly popular IP services (such as VoIP), along with traditional services to business subscribers, while facilitating a convergence to an IP/MPLS core network architecture. Seranoa Networks products are currently deployed in service provider's networks throughout North America. Seranoa Networks is located in Boxborough, Massachusetts.
