ViaSat Expands Agile PLM Implementation With Product Service and Improvement Solution
Agile Software Corporation announced that ViaSat, an innovator in wireless communications, is expanding its PLM implementation to include Agile Product Service and Improvement (PS&I). ViaSat selected Agile PS&I based on the company's successful implementation of Agile Product Collaboration. By adding Agile PS&I to its PLM deployment, ViaSat expects to drive product quality and customer satisfaction.
"As ViaSat faces increasing demand for its satellite communications and secure networking equipment, we will continue to provide our customers with the highest quality product and service. To meet these goals, the company selected Agile's closed-loop corrective action system to help drive product quality, which will ultimately lead to higher customer satisfaction levels," said Steve Hart, vice president of engineering and chief technical officer. "Based on our successful implementation of Agile Product Collaboration, we determined that we could use Agile PS&I to help integrate our product record and quality history to optimize engineering and development resource allocation, without changing our business processes."
In 2003, ViaSat implemented Agile Product Collaboration solution to provide better visibility and control of the product record across the lifecycle, manage direct material costs, and improve product profitability. Within six months ViaSat experienced a 44 percent efficiency gain from the initial design to the completion of a product prototype, a 20 percent improvement in engineering change orders, and a 30 percent improvement in overall organizational efficiency.
