MSC.Software Releases MSC.Nastran 2005 r2

MSC.Software Corp. announced the release of MSC.Nastran 2005 r2. MSC.Nastran is part of MSC.Software SimOffice product portfolio is a simulation and finite element analysis (FEA) product used by manufacturers around the world to simulate loads and stresses on mechanical systems and components.

"This release provides continued proof that MSC.Software is dedicated to satisfying the needs of its customers with increased functionality and performance," said Reza Sadeghi, vice president, solvers development, MSC.Software. "We are continuing to widen the gap between MSC.Nastran and the other products on the market and we very much appreciate all of our customers who have continued to work directly with us to make MSC.Nastran the best CAE product in the market today."

This release of MSC.Nastran further improves the simulation and analysis capabilities to address the demands of product development engineers performing virtual testing of their parts, assemblies and products.

Major new features and enhancements are in the areas of nonlinear, optimization, and high performance computing and include:

•  MSC.Nastran DMP Product Module Enhancements -A new Multilevel DMP (Distributed Memory Parallel) capability has been added to increase solver performance with more highly scalable algorithms for high performance computing environments.

•  MSC.Nastran Topology Optimization Product Module -A new capability providing the ability to determine the optimal size and shape of a new component (or verify existing components) for a given set of loads and boundary conditions.

•  MSC.Nastran Implicit Nonlinear Product Module -A set of major and minor enhancements have been made to greatly improve the performance and capabilities when accessing the nonlinear capabilities of MSC.Marc through existing MSC.Nastran models.

•  MSC.Nastran Explicit Nonlinear Product Module (pre-release)-A new solution sequence (SOL 700) that allows engineers to access the capabilities of the MSC.Dytran LS-DYNA solver to perform crash and drop test analysis using their existing MSC.Nastran models.
