Delcam To Launch FeatureCAM in China At CIMT

Delcam will launch its recently acquired FeatureCAM range of CADCAM software in China on stand 305 in Hall 6, of the CIMT exhibition to be held in Beijing from 11th to 17th April. FeatureCAM compliments Delcam's established Power Solution range of software with cutting-edge CADCAM programming techniques for production machining, incorporating feature-based, knowledge-based, and automatic feature recognition technologies.

FeatureCAM's feature-based technology shortens programming time and makes CADCAM easier to learn by defining parts the same way that machinists describe them. The software's knowledge-based technology manages manufacturing more efficiently, by combining the power of automation with precise control over machining strategies. At the same time, automatic feature recognition accelerates the design-to-machining process by intelligently and automatically extracting part information from imported CAD files. With FeatureCAM's AFR, an entire imported 2D solid model can be programmed with a single click.

The range of FeatureCAM products includes FeatureMILL2.5D, FeatureMILL3D, FeatureTURN, FeatureTURN/MILL, FeatureWIRE, FeatureRECOGNITION, Solid Modeling, Tombstone Machining, and 5-Axis Positional Machining. Each program combines power with automation, in an environment that is easy to use and gives the user full control over the level of automation.

Together this range provides a complete solution for production machining with a broad range of data importing options and an extensive library of post processors. The software also offers the ability to create custom posts and edit existing ones, feed rate optimization, a powerful API for macro creation and program customizations, job quoting documentation, and an integrated 3D simulation package.

"The addition of the FeatureCAM software range has given Delcam the broadest variety of CAM software on the market," claimed Delcam's Asian Business Development Director Tim Mitchell. "We are convinced that its ease of use and high level of automation will make FeatureCAM extremely popular in China, where skilled programmers for more complex systems are in short supply. CIMT is the biggest machine tool exhibition in the country and so provides the ideal platform to launch our new products into the Chinese market."
