SeaQuest Technologies Implements SofTech ProductCenter PLM

SofTech, Inc. announced that its ProductCenterT PLM (product lifecycle management) solution was purchased by Canadian-based SeaQuest Technologies. SeaQuest Technologies develops integrated marine information infrastructures and specializes in systems integration and project management for engineering, implementation and commissioning of operational decision support systems for marine applications.

In testament to ProductCenter's ease of implementation, SeaQuest Technologies installed ProductCenter directly themselves. "Even as comprehensive as the ProductCenter PLM solution is, we had the system up and running very quickly, with little effort and no show-stopper issues," states Hugo LeBlanc, manager of systems integration.

As to the benefits SeaQuest expects to derive from their ProductCenter implementation, LeBlanc adds, "Our data management needs are complicated in that we do a lot of custom work, depending on specific needs of a harbor and surrounding hydrographic environment. Better information accessibility and control will encourage more design and information reuse, not only jumpstarting new programs and cutting development cycle times, but also enabling us to bid more competitively on new projects."

SeaQuest Technologies supplies completely-integrated solutions of marine information systems technologies. Its systems support harbor authorities faced with increasingly demanding operational decision-support system requirements. SeaQuest Technologies is headquartered in Canada with a network of business units providing specialized marine information systems solutions, including:

•  Integrated Marine Information Infrastructure

•  Telecommunication and Information Systems

•  Safety, Security and Surveillance

•  Knowledge Management

A big challenge in the marine industry, nowadays, is to make information systems more efficient in supplying decision-makers with accurate tools, allowing making the right decision at the right time, thereby insuring that all necessary measures are taken to enhance capacities and guarantee optimized cargo traffic while maintaining security and safety. This requires integration of equipments such as radars, VTS, voice radio sub system, DGPS, AIS, EMS and many more navigational/environmental or security modules that supply pertinent and complementary information, yet that do not traditionally communicate with each other. SeaQuest Technologies develops its Integrated Marine Information Infrastructure concept to enable interoperability of all these sub systems to assist ports in optimizing their operational throughputs in waterways.

The company also offers worldwide, especially in developing countries, a range of services related to information systems in public business management and conducts surveys to make recommendations for complying with international standards such as ISPS code and other IMO standards.
