New Right Hemisphere Software Supports JT Format

Right Hemisphere® announced new software support for JT, the UGS 3D visualization file format. With an estimated 600,000 users worldwide, the JT format is one of the predominant 3D data standards for enabling product visualization and information sharing between PLM software applications. Right Hemisphere's new "JT Module" software establishes a new path to get data authored in the JT format from both UGS products, such as TeamcenterT product knowledge management collaboration software, and other PLM software vendors into the Universal 3D (U3D) format used in Adobe® Acrobat® 7.0.

Right Hemisphere software further extends the utility of JT data by producing lighter weight files from 3D JT files for interactive training, technical publications, marketing collateral and catalogues, collaboration documentation, and other product support offerings.

The software also allows users to take original JT 3D data and:

•  automatically generate technical illustrations from it;

•  add interactivity to it;

•  automatically generate an exploded view animation of the data

;

•  create photorealistic images with it; and

•  export it to a wide variety of 2D and 3D formats and publishing environments.

Right Hemisphere software even allows 3D JT data to be combined with multiple computer-aided design (CAD) formats. Users may wish for example to combine native CATIA® data with 3D JT data. Right Hemisphere software is able to integrate both file types in a single, large, enterprise publishing application or common desktop application such as a Microsoft® PowerPoint® or Adobe Acrobat.

"JT has become a widely accepted CAD interchange format among our large customers," said Right Hemisphere President and CTO Mark Thomas. "Our support of the JT format means that Teamcenter users will be able to extend the use of 3D graphics throughout their enterprises, using the ubiquitous PDF as their publishing tool. This was quite difficult to do just a few months ago. Our software also gives users the flexibility to translate JT data; optimize file size and characteristics or add animations, textures, and interactivity; and publish it out in a broad range of formats."

Right Hemisphere's JT support gives users more options for sharing and exporting JT data files. The company's core Deep ServerT enterprise software and Deep ExplorationT client software have the ability to read-in and translate over 120 different 2D and 3D data files. To take advantage of the Teamcenter to PDF workflow or to convert JT files into other formats using Right Hemisphere software, users will need Right Hemisphere's JT Module as well as its Deep Server or Deep Exploration software.

"Right Hemisphere's support of 3D JT data and their participation as a member of the JT Open Program is evidence of the UGS leadership role for openness in the PLM market segment," said UGS JT Open Program Manager Mark Matousek. "Right Hemisphere's JT Module is a welcome addition to the growing suite of products supporting the JT format in particular with adding the ability to share 3D JT data through the U3D and PDF formats."

Right Hemisphere's new JT Module is available this month. Customers may obtain trial versions or purchase Right Hemisphere software from the company's Web site .   To locate a Right Hemisphere reseller in your region, please go to http://www.righthemisphere.com/store/index.php .
