Lung Kee Selects PTC Pro/ENGINEER To Build 3D Moldbase Library; Shortening Design Time by 20% and Bringing Products to Market Faster
PTC ® announced that Lung Kee Group, a leading mold manufacturer, has selected Pro/ENGINEER® Expert Moldbase Extension (EMX) to help build one of the most comprehensive moldbase libraries for the mold making industry. Lung Kee Group, one of the four largest moldbase manufacturers in the world, has been ranked No.1 in moldbase production capacity.
With this library, manufacturers of home appliances, toys and automotive components can benefit from cost-effective development and production of molding tools. Not only is this a 3D library of standard parts, its "smart" design makes fitting and changing components in 3D much easier for engineers. It therefore reduces the design errors and the time spent by engineers on routine and time-consuming tasks. Additionally, the moldbase library allows users to generate a completely assembled moldbase with just a few mouse clicks. As all of the components in the library are in 3D format, it allows for quick, real-time previewing so that engineers are able to discover design errors at an early stage. This can reduce last minute changes and ultimately saves money and resources.

Pro/ENGINEER EMX provides "smart" moldbase and mold components. It helps eliminate errors resulting from tedious repetitive tasks like clearance hole creation for screws and ejector pins. Its quick-preview GUI's (graphical user interface) allows quick and real-time previewing before the 3D component or assembly is automatically placed.
Mr. Mak added, "Without this library, it would normally take our customers at least an hour to create a standard moldbase. But now, it will only take minutes with the EMX library. No more tedious time spent building a standard moldbase. And the customers have instant access to the most commonly used mold base catalogs in the industry from the EMX library."

Lung Kee Group, one of the four largest moldbase manufacturers in the world, has been ranked No.1 in its mould base sales quantity in Asia for years. Founded in 1975, Lung Kee Metal (LKM) was primarily engaged in the selling of mold steel. The standard and custom-made moldbase division was formally established in 1985. With concerted effort and innovative ideas of its staff, it has successfully developed LKM into an industrial group with a number of subsidiaries in Asia. Lung Kee has been listed in The Stock Exchange of Hong Kong Limited since 1993, and is the first company in the Hong Kong moldbase industry who went public. Now, The LKM Group factories produce more than 30,000 sets of standard and custom made moldbase per month, size range from 96mm x 96mm to 2,500mm x 4,000mm.
