Spescom Announces Release of Major New Generation of eB Software Platform, Further Extending Industry-Leading Power and Flexibility
Spescom Software Inc announced the release of a major new version of its next generation enterprise information management software platform, eB Version 14. The new version is based on the industry standard Microsoft.NET enterprise software framework to provide platform-independent connectivity and interoperability.
eB Version 14 supports the increasingly important market requirement of the information technology industry known as Service Oriented Architectures (SOAs). This architecture enables the effective communication and sharing of data between disparate computer systems. The new release of Spescom's eB software signifies a major milestone and direction for the Company, and forms the platform on which Spescom will base all future applications and solutions for the global multi-billion-dollar Information Management markets that the company addresses.
The new release extends the already extensive enterprise content and configuration management functionality of the current eB platform using the latest Microsoft.NET framework to add critical Web service and XML standards. These new standards enable both new and existing applications and systems the capabilities to powerfully connect with software and services across many platforms and programming languages. By embracing .NET, Spescom Software extends eB's capabilities to access and share information, streamline the integration with other enterprise systems, and further accelerate it's already industry leading speed of deployment.
"Spescom is taking the lead in offering an integrated, feature-rich XML Web Service-enabled enterprise content and configuration management platform that meets the needs of next-generation applications and provides new levels of functional connectivity," said Carl Mostert, CEO of Spescom Software. "As a result, businesses will be able to develop content-rich applications that deliver information when and where it is needed to empower business partners, suppliers and employees to make better decisions, faster."
Existing customers of the eB software platform said the new version provides valuable new capabilities for mission-critical data management applications across their enterprises. "We are planning to make extensive use of the enhanced capabilities and architecture of eB Version 14," said Janice Hoerber, IT Manager, AmerenUE, an early adopter of the 14 platform. "eB forms one of the core technologies on which we will be deploying a range of applications for managing the configuration and all associated documents related to our Callaway nuclear power plant. We believe that eB will enable us to streamline our business processes by consolidating and integrating multiple applications in a common environment. This will result in improved operational effectiveness and regulatory compliance."
Spescom's proprietary eB software platform is an information management solution with the ability to powerfully and clearly coordinate multiple types of structured and unstructured computer data through a single unified software platform. The eB software enables not just the consolidation of millions of pieces of data across multiple computing and software systems, but also has built-in business process rules for the effective management of change-a critical need for complex environments such as nuclear power plants, large military applications, as well as a range of other industrial applications.
For example, Spescom recently announced winning a contract to deploy its eB software to manage key aspects of the United Kingdom's entire fleet of naval submarines, in partnership with one of the world's largest defense contractors.
Spescom's eB software enables the identification and management of content and data in all its forms, such as documents, images, emails, CAD, audio, video, and others. In addition, the software enables the identification and management of the items that the content relates to. This includes the products, assets, requirements, processes, projects and other information that typically constitute the elements that people in an organization are working on. The ability to manage content in context to what that content relates to is a key differentiator of eB, compared with products from other enterprise content management vendors. Spescom's eB solutions enable users to manage their changing content universe far more effectively, by both predicting the full impact of any proposed change, but also by streamlining many other business processes, such as master equipment list management, corrective action management, contracts management, and other processes. General availability of eB Version 14.3 is scheduled for July 2005.
