MRO Software Adds Configuration Management to Transportation Solution
MRO Software announced the availability of Maximo® Configuration Management as part of its asset management suite for the transportation industry.
In the transportation industry, management of asset configuration, component life accounting and equipment operational status is critical to the success of an operation. Maximo Configuration Management accurately tracks the current and historical changes of the configuration of assets and their components. These additional capabilities are used for servicing and managing the assets associated with a transportation organization, such as aircraft, locomotives, vehicles and weapon systems. Maximo Configuration Management provides key capabilities needed by organizations in the aviation, rail, marine, aerospace and defense industries.
These strategic assets have hundreds or thousands of critical parts that are challenging to manage and maintain, and regulatory requirements add to the complexity. Given this environment, it is essential that companies correctly track the current and historical changes of assets and component configuration. Maintenance managers need an automated asset life cycle management solution that provides a real-time configuration status of a given asset; Maximo Configuration Management provides that capability.
"The added configuration management functionality is a critical capability for the company as we manage our fleet of more than 80 aircraft," Said Polly Curtis, manager, Maximo Support at Washington Dulles-based low-fare airline Independence Air. "By adding the functionality to the existing Maximo transportation solution, we are able to avoid having to support another standalone configuration management system. That improves our efficiency, saves money and preserves our upgrade path."
MRO Software added these critical configuration capabilities with the recent acquisition of Raptor Inc. That transaction closed in the Company's fiscal year 2004. Maximo Configuration Management is now available as part of Maximo® Transportation, or can be delivered as a separate solution.
The Maximo Configuration Management solution derives build and component life data from transactional logs to allow conflict detection and resolution. The solution also supports unlimited backdated changes to install/remove and usage records, and on-the-fly historical at-the-time asset build and component life views. Additional benefits enabled by the solution include high-tolerance data conversion, distributed data management, store-and-foreword capabilities, advanced-maintenance forecasting, and flexible external system interfacing capabilities. Maximo Configuration Management allows future at-the-time views of assets, created in real-time. For aircraft, multiple flexible flight-plans may be created in the maintenance forecasting (FO) module: these create future expected-usage and expected-completed maintenance events.
