Actify Ships ''SpinFire for Microsoft Office''; Access to 3D Digital Design Data Now Available to Microsoft Office Users
Actify Inc. announced that SpinFire for Microsoft Office is now available. Now, anyone using Actify's .3D format can access and distribute 3D & 2D CAD information via the Microsoft Office Platform to streamline the digital design communication process.
"Currently, 3D models are being underutilized by most organizations because they are only available to engineering departments with access to native CAD systems," said Neal Fairbanks, Vice President of Creative System Dynamics. "With SpinFire for Microsoft Office, the ability to imbed 2D and 3D models directly into Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc. will have an enormous impact on the entire design chain because now these designs can be communicated digitally to anyone, regardless of whether or not they have a CAD system. This is going to allow companies to spend less time worrying about how to communicate designs amongst one another and more time on developing the actual product. You'll start seeing products come to market much faster, with much greater efficiency."
"Actify's SpinFire for Microsoft Office provides unparalleled access to 2D and 3D product design data from within the Microsoft Office platform," said Charles Johnson, worldwide managing director of manufacturing for Microsoft. "By accelerating the communication of design information to information workers throughout the enterprise and across the supply chain, companies will realize productivity gains that will bring products to market faster and ultimately improve their bottom line."
"SpinFire for Microsoft Office is an amazing tool that is allowing us to share CAD/CAM/CAI information in a way that is easy for both technical and non technical workers," said Cliff Shih, Senior Engineer, Aerospace Industrial Development Corporation in Taiwan. "It is having a huge impact on the way employees can communicate designs back and forth. Not only is this system speeding up our communications process, but in the long run we will be saving money and bringing our products to market much faster. I can't think of a more appropriate solution to help us run our business more efficiently."
SpinFire for Microsoft Office is a plug-in application that works with the Microsoft Office platform allowing knowledge workers to leverage Actify's .3D file format to embed and widely distribute 2D and 3D CAD design data across the enterprise. Using SpinFire for Microsoft Office allows users the ability to access 2D and 3D CAD design information directly from Microsoft Office. Designs can be embedded directly into Microsoft Office documents to assist with quoting and estimating, technical documentation, product specification, design review presentations, maintenance manuals and more.
"The inherent value of SpinFire for Microsoft Office is that it allows the entire enterprise and its supply chain to gain greater visibility and access into design information that has typically been difficult to share with non-technical workers outside of engineering," said Randy Ochs, President and CEO of Actify Inc. "This brings 2D & 3D CAD information to a whole new level of end user by making CAD data available to anyone who uses the Microsoft Office platform for every day tasks."
