Agile Celebrates 10 Years-PLM Software Provider Reflects on Past Success and Looks to Lead Growth in the PLM Industry

Agile Software Corporation is celebrating its tenth anniversary. Agile heads into its tenth year of business with over 10,000 customers across the automotive, aerospace and defense, consumer products, electronics, high tech, industrial products, and life sciences industries in North America, Europe and Asia.

In its first 10 years, Agile solutions have been adopted by many of the world's leading businesses to better manage product lifecycle business processes for accelerated revenue, enhanced innovation, reduced costs, improved quality, and simplified regulatory compliance. Agile will host anniversary celebrations across its worldwide office locations to commemorate the event.

"10 years ago, Agile was born out of the need to connect innovators with manufacturers as outsourced production became a reality for the world's leading manufacturers," said Bryan Stolle, Agile CEO. "A well-managed product record is critical to this transition and Agile delivered a solution that was unique and superior in two respects: first, Agile expanded beyond engineering applications to meet the needs of business operations such as manufacturing, materials, supply-chain, field service, sales and marketing, and logistics; and second, Agile made use of the Internet to deliver its solutions, which meant that product collaboration across many companies and partners could happen remarkably faster and cheaper than before."

Coinciding with the rise of the Internet, Agile launched its first product record solution in early 1996. Between 1995 and 1998 Agile revenues grew 500% year over year. Recognizing this growth and market leadership, Start Magazine named Agile as one of the "Hottest Companies" in 1998, 1999 and 2000. In August 1999, Agile completed an initial public offering of its common stock on the NASDAQ Market under the trading symbol AGIL. Just three months later, Agile acquired Digital Markets, the first of seven acquisitions Agile has made to date, including Cimmetry Systems, acquired in February 2005.

Agile has had a total of 11 major product releases, including the launch of Agile Advantage, an on-demand PLM solution for small and medium-sized customers, in late 2004 and Agile e6 for complex engineered products. To meet the global demand for PLM solutions, Agile has a worldwide presence with development centers in China, Germany, the U.S., India and Canada; and central sales/support operations in Switzerland, the U.K., Germany, Taiwan, Japan, Canada and China.

"NetApp has relied on Agile's PLM for managing our product records for ten years and we have been very happy with their product, support, and attention to our business needs," said Dan Warmenhoven, CEO of Network Appliance, Inc., the leader in advanced networked storage solutions. "Over the course of our relationship, both companies have grown from start-ups to worldwide leaders in our respective fields. NetApp appreciates the role Agile has played in our own growth, success, and history of innovation."

Agile has built one of the broadest PLM solution portfolios available today, including industry-specific solutions for nearly all major manufacturing sectors. Agile works closely with its customers to define their unique business requirements and to tailor solutions that ensure they realize substantial business impact and industry leading time-to-value. This customer focus includes Guaranteed Business Results, which is the first program by a PLM software provider that guarantees business results and structure payments based on delivering them.

"Agile pioneered the PLM industry, and its growth has paralleled the rapid rise of the industry-from non-existence to a 10 billion dollar market in 2005," said Bruce Richardson, senior vice president, AMR Research. "High customer satisfaction has been the secret weapon sustaining the company through ten years of ups and downs in the tech industry. This unique commitment to customers ensures Agile's leadership position and market share as PLM becomes a strategic imperative for competitive companies around the world."
